I am building the base for a shed / workshop. The base needs a damp proof membrane which would measure 4.2m x 6.2m. When I asked a local builders advice he said 1200 grade polythene

This seems to only be available in 3.6 width, is there any wider product available or is it possible to join two lengths to make up the 4.2 m needed.

    Advice would be welcome
    Nick

overlap by minimum of 300mm and tape the joint or use two sided buthal tape like in the link

are u putting sand under it to keep the hardcore from cutting it?

    Yes ,

I have seen a video they install a plastic like sheet before installing the floors.
That avoids seepage of water and hence damp walls around the bathroom
