Teagasc reduction sale of purebred belclare ewes

    I was at this today in athenry. 167 ewes sold individually . Only 2 unsold. All had the star ratings available in the booklet
    prices from 150 to 400 average was pro b just above 200

    I bought 1. Interesting to see if she's any better than my own.

    She might be a good ewe, but maybe no better then what you already have in your field. There's no reason why you wouldn't have as good an eye for sheep as teagasc.

    It was a good opportunity to get into pedigree breeding at a reasonable price

    When you look at it that way, it would be a inexpensive way into breeding a few pedigrees.

    Especially if you had a top of the range belclare ram for your crossbred flock any way.

    :( I tried that. But my ram didn't turn out to be what I expected, but that's another story, for another day.

    I have a belclare ram from a society sale a couple of years ago . I'll put her with him
    taking bookings for ram lambs now . 400 Euro secures !
