So AHers, I'm having a serious deal-breaking marital argument with my wife, maybe you can help us to settle it without any bloodshed. I'm inflicting the series 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' on my partner and she claims that 'The X Files' is a much better tv show. I can't stand 'The X Files' so that's where the argument lies. So, who is right?

Which is the better show, Buffy or the X Files? 57 votes

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (of course)

    The X Files because I'm a nerd

X Files had more depth to broke more ground.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

X-Files, obviously. I didn't think Buffy was a great tv series.

At least buffy knew it was ****. X files took itself far too seriously

Now why would the X files be nerdy? It was fantastic...aliens, incest families, man like worms...what else do you want?

It lost the run of itself last couple seasons but at its peak it was one best tv shows of all time.

The reason it went off the boil was mulder and scully together where an amazing on screen team without the two of them together it lost its charm.

It's a shame it never got a good ending something I hope they sort out with this new upcoming season.

Agreed! I'm bi-sexual so I spent my time drooling over the Goddess/God couple that was Buffy and Angel :pac:

X-Files has better monster of the weeks episodes, but Buffy has the better overall arc. X-Files really needed to go away a few seasons earlier than it did. Buffy was quite a decent show, but I have a hard time bringing myself to watch it now. The 90s fashions, pop culture references (a whedon crutch) also make it incredibly dated.

The X-files had far better acting and production quality.

Buffy was fantastic. It was a goofy teen show that lures you in with it's sillyness, catches you off-guard and then bam!--- right in the feels.

The more damaged & disturbed characters like Faith & Spike had a lot of depth.

Is it a better show? Apples & oranges tbh. But I can certainly say that Buffy is more rewatchable - so for nostalgia purposes it wins out for me.

Babylon 5 was the best 90's show though :D

Wow, I am really surprised at the results! I voted Buffy, although I enjoyed both. I did lose interest in the X-Files eventually though, so I'd say that Buffy was the -consistently- better show, although X-Files had some stunners of episodes that at their best probably outdid the best of Buffy.

My partner, on being told that Buffy (after my vote) had only 20%, wants to inform you all that you're all wrong though :D

If he read my post just there, I reckon he'd probably tell me I'm wrong too :P

You should be shot at dawn! Buffy?! What's your next option: Dawson's Creek?

X Files seemed great back in the day though it wouldn't seem as good now. At least the first few episodes were based on the genuine "X files" of the FBI...but Buffy?!...that was made for teenage girls. The Twilight of the 90's.

I feel dirty even replying to this...

ER was my favorite 90's show

The significant difference for me was The X Files took itself way too seriously and Buffy didn't.

nah...the Colbys was far better. Where else does the female lead get kidnapped by space aliens because she looked for a raise. Ended in 87 so doesn't count.

Star Trek TNG wins over Buffy Jailbait and Fox Weirdo. Here's a double facepalm to prove it.
