    Monday 6th: Rest

Trip to the physical therapist to check out the heel. She had been concerned that some of the symptoms sounded like plantar fasciitis so she wanted to get it checked out and nipped in the bud if it was. Good news - everything ok with the PF but bad news not really obvious what the issue is. Loosened out the calf, foot etc. It helped but it hasn't gone away. Not stopping me doing anything but still one to watch.

    Tuesday 7th: 5 miles @ 10:14, average HR 150bpm

I hated this whole run. Probably feeling the effects of the PT session, and the body just wasn't happy. At all. Bumped into HelenAnne though and stopped for a quick chat. Probably wise to skip the RS 2 mile race, legs weren't feeling it.

    Wednesday 8th: Football

A tough game as expected but we got the win, happy days.

    Thursday 9th: 35 mins easy

No watch, probably around 3.5 miles-ish. Didn't enjoy this one either.

    Friday 10th - Sunday 12th: Rest

I finished up my job on Friday so a night out was had, no getting changed in the loos for me to run home!! Saturday was recovering - with a hungover trip to Ikea (horror show, so many children....so loud.....so many decisions) Sunday, I should have squeezed a run in but I really wasn't feeling it. I completely lost my mojo last week. More furniture shopping and bought our first few bits, very exciting! Home to catch some tennis, cook dinner and go meet a friend. The last 3 Fridays were big nights out, just random timing a few unavoidable things came together. Back on the straight(ish) and narrow(ish) now :D A truly shameful 8.5 miles for the week, first time I felt like that in a long time :(

    Monday 13th: 6 miles @ 10:23, average HR 164bpm

I've a week off this week and was determined to rediscover my mojo, I'd been looking forward to a few days off to get some good runs in. This did the trick, HR a bit high, still just in easy range, pace a bit slower but it knocked the cobwebs off and I enjoyed it, legs felt ok - job done.

    Tuesday 14th: 7.5 miles @ 10:16

A thoroughly enjoyable run. Met Anna and headed to St. Annes. Easy mile from the house to meet her and headed off together. I'd no plan of route or distance (contrary to what she believed!) and we just nattered our way around the park taking random lefts, random rights and played it by ear. Covered about 5.5 miles together and I did the mile back home. Flew by. Hadn't been watching the watch really at all, but it still came out around a normal easy pace.

    Back on track this week!!

Me too! No, not doing it as I didn't think I'd put in the training to give an account of myself. Going to knuckle down now and pull my finger out to pick a goal race. You're not doing it are you? Depending on whatever random house task takes up our time this weekend I might try head out to watch

You are a braver woman than I. I need to be well hydrated and caffeinated before venturing near the place and even then my preferred time is an hour before closing on a Monday or Tuesday so that the torture cannot be extended!

Glad to hear the mojo back - there must have been something in the air last week, few people myself included seem to have been suffering.

You are having a great time base building and it's good for you after all those races. Don't be like that.

On phone so can't multi quote.

FD - would love to do lakes, looks great but I have a wedding that day :( might catch you Sunday though. Despite A's attempted persuasion I held strong.

Spacylou - yeah ikea wasn't the best timing but all self inflicted! Hopefully we all have our mojo back now though. I suppose most of us have a few days like that occasionally.

BG - stay strong. Resist all temptation from A to race. She's probably secretly registered you for Sunday. Only reason you're the only one still on her lift list :)

    Wednesday 15th: Squash

For various reasons this ended up being a shorter and less intense game than usual so not too taxing.

    Thursday 16th: Rest

Friday 17th: 7 miles inc lactate threshold intervals, 14 & 12 mins w/"4" mins recovery

I've been talked into the Dublin half in September so have started a HM plan, missed the first couple of weeks but no real harm, I just started at the start, it's not a major adjustment from what I was doing. First LT session in a couple of weeks though with longer segments than I had done before, so was a bit apprehensive. 2 miles warm up easy then into the first one. This was tough but manageable, I was looking forward to the recovery by the end. The recovery was 4 mins on the plan, I stretched it out to 6 and a half minutes as I very much needed a toilet break, gave myself the extra couple of minutes to let the legs settle back into a rhythm before the second interval. I thought the second would be harder and I felt like I was moving slower but it was much more comfortable with the pace coming out about the same. Possibly could have pushed a little more then in hindsight but I tried to keep the heart rate steady and not to have rocketed by end of the intervals. Live and learn. Cool down home - crazy weather on this, gale force winds, hailstones, rain, splitting the stones sun. The usual so.

    2 miles easy @ 10:12
    14 mins LT @ 8:45
    12 mins LT @ 8:42

    1.37 miles easy @ 10:28

    Saturday 18th: 3.5 miles very easy @ 10:43, average HR 146

Treated this as a bit of a leg loosening recovery run. Short and sweet.

    Sunday 19th: 10 miles @ 10:23, average HR 160

Out to Swords in the AM to meet a few from here for supporting and cheer on a few others. Saw lots of the usual faces (too many to mention!) out and about supporting and racing and good to have a catch up. Home then and dragged myself out for my 10 miles. For the first 8 miles I felt like I was suffering. Legs felt heavy, and it was a struggle. I do the training mostly by HR, with an occasional check of the pace to see how it's going. After a couple of miles I gave up caring about pace and it was all about sticking it out and getting the miles done. Was running a main road near home and every turn that I passed that would bring me towards home brought a mental battle not to take. Then, once I got to about 8 miles the legs were feeling great and I breezed home. Funny that. Similarly, I did nearly the same route a couple of weeks ago and felt great on it with the pace being about 30 seconds quicker then, the two runs couldn't have felt anymore different. The legs might have been fresher going into that one. Kept an eye out for BG who I knew had a long run to get done and aquinn who I thought might be swimming sailing on the coast, there were a few of them about. Saw neither!

Still watching the heel, will be getting it seen again. 34 miles done for the week, really happy with that. Best week in a long time and importantly it was good to get the mojo back.

Yes. It's going well so far. I found it a good follow on from clearliers graduate plan. Best of luck with it. Lots of pb's in September I hope!

Fingers crossed :) yeah I had started one of the 10k a couple of times but for various times never got very far. I'll be keeping an eye on your log to see how you're getting on - a preview of what I can expect!!

    Monday 20th: 5 miles @ 10:13, average HR 159bpm

    Tuesday 21st: 5 miles @ 9:57, average HR 156bpm

    Wednesday 22nd: Football

    Thursday 23rd: Rest/Physio trip

    Friday 24th: Rest

    Saturday 25th: 4 miles @ 10:08

    Sunday 26th - ???: Rest

Short and sweet update as I'm tired but if I don't do it now it'll be days before I get around to it again!! Got an appointment for a second opinion on heel and it's been confirmed as early stages of plantar fasciitis. Said it was early stages and wasn't too inflamed and it seemed to react well to the treatment. He seemed happier with it anyway at the end of the session compared to how it felt at the start, I really just felt sore  Said to do a tester run over the next couple of days and we'd see where it was at. I did (Saturday) and it felt improved but it was still there. It niggled on Sunday as well when I was walking around town so it's obviously still not right. Decided on Sunday to just take some time off, maybe a couple of weeks. Not as dramatic as it sounds but I'm not going to set a timeframe on a return, I just want to get it right and get sorted. There's been a couple of false dawns and annoyances lately so I want to get fighting fit before launching into anything again. Have another session for next week so will see how that goes too. With the wonderful power of hindsight I could have done this break sooner but it wasn't getting any worse and was never bad enough to make me really uncomfortable, hopefully I'm still demonstrating a bit of sense early enough that it won't turn into a major deal.

I'm reminding myself that it's not the worst timing, the house should be ready for moving in the next week and a bit so there'll be plenty to keep me busy and excited with over the next short while. I'm going to try get in a couple of swims during the week as well to keep ticking over. Will hopefully be back logging soon enough when I have some good news to report :)

I still won't throw mine out and you may have noticed my hightly unsuitable footwear this morning, also mentioned in the article. The heel actually fell off in Arnotts at lunch, huh.

I know, trying to be much more sensible about footwear choice. Will ditch the heels at the earliest opportunity at the wedding this weekend!!

Did a few tester runs of 2ish miles and things are improving but still not niggle free. Had a follow up session there the other day and he's happy it's going in the right direction, nearly there hopefully. Will do another tester in a couple of days and take it from there. With new job, house and study life has been manic so it's actually been manageable surviving the break!
