    Hi Guys

1.2 2004 Seat Ibiza, Car driving fine and out of the blue EPC light came on and sounds like it went into limp mode from what was described. Took it for a drive myself today, light showing but drove/sounds fine. Plugged in a cheapo obd2 handheld unit and also tried an adapter with torque but not getting any codes.

Reading up online I see brake light switch mentioned a lot for the problem, but I realise it could be 50 other things. I realise I need to get the codes one way or another to find the problem but anyone else know of common causes that it may be?

I presume your brake lights (all of them) are working ?

Just checked now and only the middle one in the spoiler is working, pulled the fuses and there all good, guessing brake light switch is worth a shot first and foremost

Right so switched the brake light switch for a new one and still no joy. Changed fuses for new ones and replaced bulbs as well and still the same. Third brake light will come on but nothing on the other 2 rears

It's been my experience that cheap obd readers don't work well (or at all) with VAG group cars. You may need to get s somebody with VAGCom to read it for you

Just an update, took bulbs out again and cleaned a little corrosion I noticed on the connections, popped back in and epc light went off, happy days. . . . . Or may not.

Whilst pulling a fuse beforehand the ignition was on and it seems to have popped the airbag light on. I wasn't near any of the airbag connections so that should be fine, quick Google and saw about the underseat cable that can trigger the light but there doesn't appear to be one in the car.

A mate plugged their snap on scanner into the car but got no results or codes either. By any chance is a fellow boardsie close to lucan/tallaght/clondalkin that has bag com and could possibly scan it for me?
