It's mad how growing beards is a sign of "manliness" by 8 stone programmers with weak chins and little boy faces.

    It's not just AH

The whole site is full of lilly livered, Bible bashing, pc brigade preaching, desperate to be offended hippies

My beard predates the hipster phenomenon by some years

Me too. Every ****er has one now, and most don't even have the growth for a decent one.

Yes, and whenever it falls out of fashion, I'll still have one.

    Most unhip...

Absolutely. They seem to associate having a scraggy beard with deluded ideas about how macho it is, and how it bestows on them additional ‘testicular fortitude’.

You grow a beard by not shaving. That isn’t exactly difficult. You could suggest that lathering up with a good shaving soap and badger hair brush, before getting an extremely close shave with a new double edge razor blade is way more ‘manly’ than some grotesque mash of ginger hair hanging off your chin and jaw.

I like the cut of your scuttle Aongus, a good DE wet-shave is most manly indeed.
However, I have that manly shave about once a week, so end up looking like I'm on the way to hipster beard-dom regularly.

Where do i fit in, where

I don't often care much about what is currently fashionable or what people do, but those gigantic unkempt Ronnie Drew beards being sported on otherwise fey, student types in their 20s......

    Computer says no.

irish hipsters are worse than other hipsters.

at least hipsters in other countries actually have the right to act "cool".

irish people dressed up in these fashions with the little haircuts and all the garb, they just look like "pigs in lipstick" type situations.

it's absolutely hilarious to see an irish person trying to emulate something outside of their culture like this.

just stick to being plain and irish - unless you want to be laughed at.

Let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater.

Just because we're enjoying a cheap laugh at the expense of students and neckbeards trying to look like Steely Dan roadies doesn't mean we should usher in a Reich where everybody looks like they're from Longford either.

oh i know ann, but that's my point exactly...

it's hilarious to see these longford "types" putting effort into how they look.

    just give up!!

One of the funnier Instagram posts I've seen lately - "Do you think back in the 1700s people were like 'nah man, Mozarts a complete sell out, I only listen to peasants banging things with a stick'..."

    lol

After Hours is far from being anything resembling a hipster playground.

Hipster just means "someone I don't like" anyway, so **** it, we're all hipsters to someone.

Hilarious how threatened people get over other peoples' tastes.

Wouldnt have thoughts boards was hipster heaven. Isnt dressing yourself up in a certain way to project a certain image something normal people do, people who stick selfies on social media at hourly intervals. Boards is more for people in stained string vests with no inclination to impress others.

See OP in "How do you get over being unattractive" thread to see what I mean!

I have a beard but no skinny jeans, I wear older fashion as I'm older. I understand why the 80s were bad because I was there. Oh I also don't have a Hitler youth haircut. Or side of my head shaved.
