I would probably go both of them then! I have a soft spot for Colo though so that might cloud my judgement!

I don't follow :P My issue is, if I want Darmian, I must downgrade Cabaye to a 5.5m. If I want Cabaye, I must downgrade Darmian to a 4.5. If I want Darmian AND Cabaye I must downgrade either Costa or Rooney to Benteke.

What are peoples thoughts on YaYa @ 8.5m for the upcoming season? He seems to be personally settled (he's over the death of his brother(?)), isn't agitating for a move and doesn't have the distraction of the Africa Cup of Nations this year. Plus with City losing out on the PL last year he might just have the motivation and focus to get it back this year. Will the Sterling acquisition and possibly deBruyne/Pogba coming in be a threat or a help to YaYa? If they put a decent DM in front of their back 4 and allow YaYa to focus on being a #10 type AM he could have a seroius season. At 32/33 he doesn't have too many chances left to rip it up.

    Good buy or goodbye??

I dunno I think he's probably in regression. I'll be holding off for now but he did well for me around xmas last season. He won't have penalties as long as Aguero is on the pitch and his goals from DFKs two seasons ago were a freak occurance due to the sheer amount of them he scored.

Arsenal's 8.5m midfielders are confusing me!!!

    Ozil, Ramsey or Cazorla...

Ozil is getting the nod right now.

Hard to know what to do with Arsenal with Sanchez doubtful for the start. You would imagine Wenger will bring in another striker, so Giroud seems a bit of a risk.

Ozil is the best option imo.
Wenger loves him so he'll start every game and is playing at 10 (unlike Cazorla)

See had my Colo specs on! Didn't even the see the name Cabaye! If you have Hazard & Costa then I would downgrade one of them the value in 10m+ players is in their captaincy potential no point having one if you aren't going to captain them.

Haha hmmm. I'd be nearly too afraid to go without Hazard given his ownership although I wouldn't start with him if he wasn't so highly owned. So yeah maybe downgrading Costa wouldn't be such a bad idea :)

Whats the best combo for the money? Bolasie and Costa or Silva and Rodriguez? I've a gut feeling Rodriguez (if truly over his injury) will be bursting a gut to have a good season and with Pelle's form not good towards the end of last season and Long seen as a right sided attacker rather than an out and out striker (plus the fact Costa didn't have a great end of season either) I'm thinking Silva and Rodriguez could be the way to go.

Özil doesn't shoot enough for me to have him at 8.5m in GW1. I'd be looking at my Arsenal mid to be captainable and Özil isn't explosive enough

Depends which one you want to captain when Chelsea have the favourable fixture. I am tempted to go with a bit of a punt on Vardy its a bit less appealing with Ranieri there but it could work out and its always fun to start with one punt and one only toughish fixture up until Arsenal in GW7 could work out well. Having said that I wouldn't be surprised if they were bottom at Christmas and Ranieri was looking for a new job by New Year!

I'm thinking of downgrading Hazard to Fabregas and hoping for a repeat of last year. That's why I have Siggy and Ivan who has been immense at the start for as long as I've taken fantasy seriously :P

Another good discussion piece on FFS. I've been thinking about trying to fit Kane in with GW2 captaincy in mind. It means 3 transfers or a WC to get Aguero in though

Not much between them really. There really isn't a whole lot in the 7m forward bracket though makes it tough to see an alternative Gomis & Bera maybe but their fixtures make it a bit awkward.

JRod is definitely one to keep an eye on but its a bit of a punt to open with him although with their fixtures it definitely has a decent upside. I am going with Mane though and don't want to be over exposed just in case they do struggle after another summer of changes. As long as you don't have any other punts in your team then I think JRod & Silva would be the best option as long as you have Hazard as Chelsea captaincy option but also have an escape plan for JRod in case things don't work out.

Losing Hazard frees up a lot of money and I'd probably only captain him GW1, but besides last season he's shown he can be explosive. I'd be too scared to go without and have to play catch up

Its funny how some players always seem to start really well. If Siggy starts well this season with Chelsea & United in the first four then I will never doubt it again! I saw someone on FFS put forward an argument for Fab based on the fixtures and that he will be pushed further forward last year I covered both and went Haz in FPL and Fab in UFPL might well do the same again this year!

I don't wanna go without Walcott he was the first name on my team so I guess it's no Hazard. Forgot about UFPL. Might give it a lash this year :)

I remember reading about Fabregas' fading during the second half of the season last year. I dont think you can ignore these stats:

Cesc Fabregas goals and assists stats

First half v Second half of the season

    09-10: 19 v 9
    10-11: 9 v 5
    11-12: 13 v 4
    13-14: 16 v 5
    14-15: 15 v 2

Yeh Walcott is an interesting one he's just so effective give him the ball and he'll just go try score great for FPL!

I like Walcott but will he be a starter? He'd be an expensive bench warmer. Will he be used as a striker instead of Giroud/Wellbeck?

Nobody knows unfortunately. If I knew he would start up front he would be straight into my (and most others') gw1 team.

The only absolutely nailed players in the Arsenal GW1 team imo are: Ozil, Cazorla, Coquelin, Koscielny, and Cech. I'd expect Ramsey, Monreal, and Mert to start and Wenger would be foolish not to start Walcott with Sanchez out

I'm seriously contemplating sticking the armband on Hazard in gw1, and leaving it on him for the season, barring injury.

I'd be surprised if Walcott doesn't get to start with Sanchez definitely out for probably the first 2 weeks (Arsene: "He'll be back with us 03/08 and it takes about 2/3 weeks to be competitive" GW2 is 12 days after 03/08).

Theo earned his shot with the performances at the end of last season and if he gets it will be desperate to do enough to stay in the team. I'm 90% sure I'll be risking him in from the start as my Arsenal mid. But I may chicken out.

If only we could know. Hopefully Wenger might give us a few hints closer to the start. Sanchez being out might open up the door for him to play GW1 if he impresses then who knows what happens!

the charity shield will probably see wenger play the team he will start with in gw 1

Good point. Should give us a few clues as to his thinking at least.

its also the game that causes the most changes in the lead up to the new season. I love to look at the rate my teams before and after that game it causes massive kneejerk reactions. Chelsea 2 ( willian 2) Arsenal 2 ( ozil 2) would be ideal.

Hopefully they don't disappoint us all by having a surprising starting line up and then make wholesale changes at half time and experiment with formations so we're left even more confused!

    Sanchez being out
Why is he out and for how long? I though he just scored the winning penalty in the Copa America shootout. Did he get injured in the celebrations or what???

Well he will miss the first few gameweeks because he needs a break after the Copa.
