    Just saw a list on Facebook of people who cost less than Sterling, I'll list the big ones:
    Aguero=£38m
    Sanchez=£32m
    Costa=£32m

    Sterling=£49m.....

    If I'm a City fan I'm happy enough here. They don't get players for anything like their value ever. Sterling for 49 million or Fernandinho for 30? 10 years from Sterling there and they won't be unhappy they paid it.

    Its all relative to the crazy inflation within the league last few years though

    Just watched Phil Thompson being talked to on SSN. Man what a gob****e! This man still lives in the 80's and is so seriously blinkered it's unreal! He was asked "Are Liverpool now becoming a selling team?" and he responds talking about the new stadium and all the new fans Liverpool will have next year. 10,000 new fans in a revamped stand...WOW!!! Carragher was on yesterday dismissing Utd's deal for Schweinsteiger while Liverpool sign Milner to replace the legend Gerrard and then give Henderson the captaincy! They'll bring on Balotelli as a sub next season expecting him to turn things around and win games for them. Seriously deluded club they are!

    Surely Ward-Prowse, two players for the price of one?

    Or FSG will charge £10 for the hyphen, they'll have the money made back in no time.

    Someone had to make it a Liverpool United thing eventually. Congrats DenMan. You're now that guy.

    Have liverpool already spent the sterling money on firimino and the others or is it extra to spend on top of that?

    I think when we wanted that LOI forum a few years ago we made a huge mistake. The campaign should have been to give United and Liverpool their own forum.

    We would have had a lot more support and this forum would be much better.

    Depends on the Ings tribunal but I make it net spend of around 10m when the Sterling deal is finalised

    The most reliable journalists that cover Liverpool seem to think the spending done so far was not the Sterling money being spent in advance. Guess we''ll find out soon enough.

    Which isn't good for a team on the outside of the top 4 wanting to break in. They'll spend more, I'm sure of it.

    Be surprised if it doesn't hit 50m+ alright by the end of the window

    Liverpool have been a selling club since 2009.

    Thompson is absolutely clueless.

    If FSG want to give Rodgers a chance of getting CL football then they need to give him all that money to invest.
    Pool need a few players to go into the first team and most importantly a striker who can stay fit.If Pool dont buy a striker BR will be gone next summer,I have no doubt about that.

    Some of it will be slashed by the fact that Liverpool have way too many strikers.

    Sturridge, Borini, Lambert, Ings, Origi, Balotelli plus the one they're gonna sign this summer. 3 of them will go to fund that inside forward that Liverpool probably need now to compete with Lallana and Ibe for a spot in that bank of 3 with the 2 Brazilians.

    Borini,Mario and Lambert are the most likely to leave imo.Would they raise 25m?

    Liverpool have often sold their best players. It's not a new phenomenon. They sold Keegan, Rush, Owen, McManaman, Suarez, etc. All pretty much in the primes or close enough to it.

    Man City out this summer - total approx £45

    Negredo - 27m
    Nastasic - 8m
    Rekik - 4m
    Sinclair 2.5m
    Boyata - 1.5m
    Trippier (sell on clause) - 1.2

    Milner, Richards and Lampard wages off the books and fpp being relaxed there could still be big spending from City even after Sterling.

    Unless your Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern you are always vulnerable to your best players been poached.

    Yeah I would think so. I'm sure Mario would chop off a massive chunk off the wagebill though, I can't imagine that he came cheap.

    I'd be of the opinion that Liverpool should have looked at Jovetic, Bony, Dzeko or Navas as options for an exchange as part of this deal. They'd all add something to Liverpool.

    £49m & 200k a week for a kid who has a lot left to learn on & off the pitch is daft.
    As a Liverpool fan it stings me as we have sold one of our better players to a rival. He could turn into Nasri & flop but I look at our signings Firimino is an unknown to me,Clyne & Milner are good signings but nothing so far makes me think we'll get back in the top 4.
    I dread us potentially signing Benteke.

    I think that's more to do with your lack of knowledge of the Bundesliga than himself really. He's a very good player and anyone who watches the Bundesliga will probably agree with me on this. He's also had more than 6 decent months of football unlike Sterling, so I'm quite happy in swapping him+money for Sterling.

    But yeah we really need a top striker and DM if we have any notion of getting 4th imo.

    He is a good player. Very good would be a stretch for me for Premier League levels. Lots to prove.

    Well his PL ability obviously remains to be seen, but from what I've seen and also heard from some people I know who support Hoffenheim, he's one of the top midfielders there, so I'm happy with what we've done here, although if we blow 32.5m on Benteke I'll be back to being pissed at Ian Ayre and Rodgers again.
