Cancy Cooker Hob knobs 'sticking'

Hi All See pic...the knobs are sticking..and are alos affecting the pilot spark/light (ie it stays on continuously because of the 'sticking') Any ideas how DIY could 'free' up the knobs..have tried spraying in penetrating oil etc.. Only two of 5 usable now..

Zippy as that is a gas hob regulations say that you need a service engineer from Hoover/Candy or an RGI Tech to check the appliance
