    Anything better for around the same money?

    Freeview HD is DVB-T2.

    That is ridiculous amount of money to spend on a DVB-T only box even if it does have a HDD.

    (there is a EE TV Box 1TB HDD FREEVIEW HD WiFi NETGEM N8500 on ebay for £39 atm albeit a bidding item).

    Also the BUSH B320PVR is on ebay for £39. It has a 320g HDD and is DVB-T2.

    That Bush looks nice and cheap but there is no mention of series links.
    Will it work with Saorview?

    The only PVR model that works with series link on saorview is the WP6500TTR.
    Series link on saorview is implemented differently than on freeview. Freeview PVR's worked for a short while after series link was launched on saorview until something changed that stopped it working on freeview equipment.

    yes it will see my pics as mentioned it will not allow series link but my humax has been rock solid and never failed a recording. I just use it as a pvr on a second tv and happily recording american odyessey on rte 2 friday nights and true blood on tg4 on friday nights.

    in addition you cannot reorder the channels on the humax box but it does show programme information.

    i think the humax may be cheaper on richersounds website

    Yes.

    DVB-T tuner module rather than the DVB-T2 tuner module required for Freeview HD.
