Anybody used The Hernia Clinic ??

    Hi All

Looking for a consultant for My Mum as she has an abdominal hernia, and I'm worried about how long she's waiting as she's having alot of symptoms from it. Anyway, while searching, I found The Hernia Clinic in Sandyford ... it seems a rather specific area to devote a clinic to, so I'm wondering if it's part of a bigger private Clinic (beacon perhaps) ? Seems to be run by 2 UK Consultants from what I can see.

Has anybody used it to have a hernia repair performed ? I've noticed that they're giving Free consultations, which to be honest, puts me off slightly ... seems like the kind of thing a cosmetic "Clinic" would do to reel you in. I've never come across any private medical clinic before offering free consultations. Am I being cynical here, or realistic ??

Anybody have any thoughts or experience at all with this place ??

So, I probably shouldn't research these things so late at night !! It's actually written on the website - seems to be a private clinic, and they perform their procedures at the beacon. Luckily managed to get an appointment with a consultant today for two weeks time, but I'm still curious if anybody has used this place, and what it was like. Still a bit dubious about the "free consultation"

Hi, I had a consultation there last week for incisional hernia repair. I'm still undecided as to whether I use this clinic or not. Did you go ahead with your procedure?

    Hi There

My Mum never went ahead with the appointment at the Hernia Clinic afterall, as she ended up getting called for a HSE appointment in the meantime, and the HSE Consultant was very good, so she went with him instead. She did have the hernia repair done and the symptoms went away, but now she seems to have another unfortunately.

Good Luck whatever you decide. Sorry I wasn't of much help.
