Cork style seemed to be based on players bursting a tackle alot , just think whatever about the next day it dosent seem to be a tactic that will prosper in todays massed defences.on the match today opportunity missed and all comes down to who has learned the most from today

the hurling draw is the next big thing now ..we cant get Dublin ...so Limerick or Clare ....I think we will be in trouble if its Clare ..I feel they are on the go again....lets see fingers crossed !

No no I named him team next day

    Huge fan him

But I meant today struggling so instead Cronin off Shields should went off Cronin in corner with dorman on but would had defensive player over dorman who brilliant but attack minded

I think leaving him on was the right call..thought he did ok apart from the goal which could be argued it was a poor pass to him also.

Showed real leadership in creating the third goal.

I'd love to see him freed up as he's a far better footballer technically than he's allowed to be. For this team though we probably need him in the full back line unfortunately.

He played a Sigerson campaign at midfield if I remember correctly and I'd say he enjoyed the opportunity to express himself a bit more

The penalty decision was shocking at this level ...he saw O Donoughue dive arms out and the ref fell for it ,,not good enough at this level ....disgrace .

Two crucial things that Cork need when playing this way are intensity and moving the ball with speed. We had both today and we were a different animal to other performances.

Without those though we struggle badly.

I am not saying we will in sam after a draw ....but todays performance was immense players gave it there all ...it was a great Munster final ...today proved that we have very good footballers I have said that numerous times ..one player I am delighted for is Barry O Driscoll I have mentioned loads of times hopefully he will continue to grow in a position he neaver played in ..I have always been a fan of his....nobody is getting carried away Kerry are Kerry they will be ready bigtime for the replay ...can we take them ? that's the millon euro question ....but todays performance when you consider the pressure the players were under was wonderfull ....but like I said nobody is carried away ...Kerry will be strong favourites again for the replay.

I'd agree with all that but it was good gutsy display

But it wasn't wonderful im sorry wonderful when you beat kerry

And your not correct as few here have got carried away saying were top table football again

I'll be first say congratulations if we are and I'd be happy as king of the world but draw is nothing get carried away with but rather reminded cork football fell so off two years top table slightest game we think we're in the promises land

When this management tool over aim I had all Ireland final within two years as fitzmaurice gilroy and mcguimness achieved so early and I just wanted all Ireland final appearance

I never as you know doubted cork dont have the footballer
    We have them absoultey

He did for dcu wasn't it or carlow etc and fine in Byrnes cup
It's not a matter did he enjoys it
Questions is was he effective and imo not senior elite midfield player but outstanding in the full back line

That's it cork ran though kerry at ease and I was surprised by this
Kerry were lethargic and weak down the middle
They won't be the next day

Who ever learns more as you say will win

One thing about the game today I really noticed was the performance of Paddy Kelly.

We all Agreed I'd say Paddy is a fine footballer and probably deserving of a starting spot in the replay.

For me though there's one huge improvement left to make in his game. For a start positionally I hate see him coming too deep for the ball.

I think he's best occupying the space where a traditional centre forward would operate in.

The improvement he needs to make is contingent on him playing this more advanced role. He needs to take a few more chances with his distribution in the final third of pitch. I feel he has the technical ability as we saw today to consistently find our inside men but he's too safety first with his use of possession at times and slows the play down too often.

This is fine when he's operating deeper and you need to mind the ball obviously but in that advanced role he played today he could be a game winner if he took chances on the ball. Himself and Donnacha played well today in fairness but there's more in Paddy I feel

A couple of our other midfield options aren't senior elite either I'm afraid. It's about making the most of what's available.

I'd agree though we need him in the full back line for the foreseeable future.

Drawn against Clare, Limerick would be the obvious choice of venue I guess.

Don't think they will play a double header the evening before the Munster final, especially if the weather forecast is bad and the Tipp footballers have a home qualifier on Saturday too.

Try your local Supervalu or Centra in the coming days. Stand tickets did not go on public sale for the drawn game, probably the same for the replay.

    http://www.eveningecho.ie/sport/kerry-will-be-ready-for-war-in-the-replay/

    Good balanced read

Cork deserves huge credit for yesterday but my point is a one off performance is nothing unless we win the next day

Rattling kerry and not winning has been the story of cork football for years and that attuide must change
Credit where due there's change in attuide from cuthbhertt in interview today was refreshing in wants cork win and said draw was nothing really for Cork
    He's right

He gave cork platform yesterday but he should drive on by picking team win the next day
If the same team starts cork will loose
It's naive to think cork dont have problems after yesterday as o Donovan said here

Kerry didn't test them don't mean there not there
Donovan right Driscoll defensively is worry in Barry won't be allowed attack as much
For starters he'll have forwards places him on the back foot from the off

And he's right Cork defence man marking is a problem

O Connor was right was everything you want in warrior but he right show at times lack pace cover back
That's a worry v a mobile fast athletics midfield if cork face Dublin in croke park in he's last game Cork there a younger and we'll more trained o Connor couldn't cope with the tempo

Yes he'll be fitter two weeks from more training but kerry team who fitness you could see was off the pace will be better also

Thursday week will tell a lot or the Wednesday the team is picked have management learned from this game
It may seem unfair people slow give huge praise after yesterday and yes it is but the nature of sport is false dawns are horrible sport and we need more than one off game to suddenly say all is good

Cork clearly targeted this game since November and clear day kerry hadn't targeted cork at all
They will the next day and not just from the start but soon as team is named
Apparently they had a meeting straight after the game where there was nothing held back
Cork have no choice but to further evolve and improve the next game

Maybe they might play it in Kilarney?

    It would be ideal

    Hope it's Thurles
But Clare are looking like their back to some sort of even keel of happiness, could be a real shootout, Kelly v Lehane
    Will definitely be a cracker
    Rebels abú

    thurles would be great alright!

    prob be limerick tho :(

the game next saterday will be live on sky sports , so that confirms the throw in time if nothing else 7pm

i get the feeling on this page its the draw nobody wanted either !!!

Compared to limerick who are predicable and one way direct with no pace or width and a manager that doesn't read a game tactically or do real change we now play a sweeper oriented team with blinding pace all over the field and a team that will score goals if chance are there unlike limerick who yes got one v westmeath

Christ above they have some forwards with kelly conlon McGrath honan Cunningham etc

Cork have a difficult choice to make in does Murphy mark kelly
Yes he held him two year ago but kelly development is huge and more expirence and while Murphy good v Wexford he's lost split second yard pace that crucial on kelly

    Mcdommell imo to mark him
O Neill should be back so tough calls to make
    Lorchan won't make it

Clare are the tougher team as weak clare due to injury ran limerick all the way

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,276 ✭✭✭thinkstoomuch1

Huge week for Cork hurling with munster final Wednesday night and the senior hurling Saturday
    Only two teams left
Flynn could be huge loss Wednesday but brennan has to start

Sean mac what do you think are the chance for the replay in the football??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 860 ✭✭✭lim4ev

As a Limerick man I think ye got the short straw in getting clare, limerick are a shambles and can't see them doing much next week v Dublin hope i'm wrong.Cork will struggle v clare as I think clare are the one team[maybe Waterford]that can challenge kk or tipp and are a massive 12/1 to win the all irl despite their manager.Clare win for me here.
