The face Damien Duff made when Duffy said that was priceless. Those players were embarrassed to be there, they knew they had spurned a very realistic chance to make the semis that year as they would have faced South Korea in the quarters had they got past Spain. They actually would have met the Germans again in the semis, we could have really gotten into fairytale stuff.

I've heard of this before. Didn't Duffy try to start a sing-song or something aswell?

    Is there any footage anywhere?

Here it is in full, skip on to about 5.10 to see Damien Duff cringing.

I respect the guy for being very good at his sport. I also understand the showmanship being part and parcel of UFC but I find Conor McGregor to be quite embarrassing in some of his press conferences

    McGregor
    full stop.

I appreciate anyone who is so committed to a sport they love.
But he makes me cringe every time he talks
I can't wait until someone knocks him out so he fades in the memory like a bad cold.

Far to cocky and thinks he is a god. Is probably the reason I hate him.
Makes a fool of himself everytime hes on tv

Rory McIlroy ridding himself of the Irish flag handed to him at a tournament was pretty embarrassing.

Also, the way the Irish media fawn over him, and seem to think everyone who doesn't, and the Irish Golf Union who funded him are some how sectarian for wanting him to continue to represent Ireland at golf ie. World matchplay.

Can you link me to an article? First I've heard of it but it wouldn't shock me.

The whole construction of the McCarthy v Keane thing in 2002.

I know that its probably been done to death but it was constructed in such a manner that you would almost think that McCarthy was at fault for the FAI's poor organisation!

I sincerely doubt that someone came to Mick asking if he would like more resources and he said " nah lads, fcuk that- enjoy your jolly up and myself and the boys will slum it"

    ??

To be fair, if people are talking about McGregor as this huge embarrassment despite never getting into any trouble outside of his job, it's hardly unfair to say the same about Best, who was in constant trouble off the pitch in spells, by most accounts was awful and abusive father and husband, a pretty extreme alcoholic, a guy who reached the highest of highs but lost it all because of said vices, and glorified this with many of his witty quotes.

Personally, I don't think either of them are even bordering on close to our greatest embarrassment by even the wildest stretches of the imaginations, and have no understanding why either would be considered as such.

Im glad that the rovers stadium was built the way it was but wouldn't blame the GAA for trying to get something out of it. Rovers own ineptitude got them into a place where someone else had to build their stadium with public money. It worked out for Rovers they got a decent stadium eventually.

The Kilcoyne Family sold out Milltown for housing development. Rovers went on the road for years, there was a dispute over the Tallaght stadium and the GAA.

A Northern Irishman not wanting to cause a flag incident at home over him? How embarrassing indeed. He has been very smart in mostly being pictured holding the Northern Irish flag only (apart from the odd time - like when he raised the tricolour on the flag poll at the Walker Cup while the national anthem played) and that is very wise considering the situation he faces.

Drunk people chanting "oh when the *insert team here* go marching in" in the street while on the way to watch some match nobody cares about in a pub

Hate any idolisation of George Best, ya he was a decent footballer but more so a drunk wifebeater.

McGregor, Just a total flute, as a previous poster said, it can't come soon enough for someone to give him a good hiding and shut his gob up.

Boxers from our famous ethnic minority. Really, can we not be good at something that hasn't been perfected from bare knuckle drunken brawling.

So who is to blame? It would be very much the Kilcoyne family if I were a Rovers fan. Milltown was known as the best pitch in Dublin.

I was more referring to having a half built stadium sitting for years in Tallaght because the club couldn't get sorted for funding
