Whats the rest of the cores on the cable being used for?
If you can get a common negative from somewhere else it may be possible.

it was an old astec alarm that i am replacing whoever fitted it just cut out the the other two cores

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,573 ✭✭✭kub

Can you bare back the cable and retrieve and extend the cores that were cut?

If the cables are too short out of the wall you could use jelly crimps.

Actually you could use a HKC wireless bell box and just make sure that the batteries in it are rechargeable, then use your 2 cores for the + and - terminals.

    Using 4 cores wire
    Positive
    BHO
    Tamp return
    common - for bell & strobe;

is that just link out + and - of the bell and strobe thanks for the help

Just give the bell negative the connection from the panel and loop from that to strobe negative. They shouldn't both need the +

i tried that i keep getting an open tamper fault on the bell

Its probably a bit late know but an RF-SABB with a 12 volt feed from the panel could be the solution....

And do you have the resistor in place on the tamper return?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14 MATTHEW18

yeah i left both resistors in the one in the panel and on the bell itself

That would make sense so. It just needs to see the one.
The battery that would of being needed if you did go the wire free route is the 8.4V rechargeable battery.

One resistor only is all you need.
    So at the bell connect

    +
    BHO
    bell & strobe negative
Resistor into tamper return & other leg of the resistor to the cable going to the tamper return in the panel.

Another silly question. ....when the system is arming /armed time to leave / enter ....how do i make the keypad play the audible beep ?
Had it on the Securewatch but can't seem to find it on the new keypad ?
Keep coming in and forgetting to unset it and alarm goes off 😯

    Should be on.
    Is the speaker announcing anything?
Check that it hasn't been unplugged from the main board.

Weird how it was set to 0.
When you set it to 2 did you press the yes to accept the volume?
Did you hear the beep when you set it at two?
Also in the keypad options is buzzer on?

    Hi All,

Is there any Alarm Installers in the North Tipperary area that will upgrade my HKC SW1070 to v3.1 as I want to add a GSM-Q to it.

I ask X3 different installers in my area.
One said he needed the maintance contract so I would loose control of my Alarm that I installed myself.
Second guy said the Laptop he uses was broken but if it was up and running he would be charging me €200 so advice me to just buy a new Panel with v3.1
Third guy said 2 months back that he would, he did not ring me back, I ran him again and left a voice mail and still no reply.

I do intend to pay for this upgrade

    Any advice on this.

    Thanks
    Cathal.

Any one know if there are generic wireless keyfobs that work with the hkc 1070 panel, local installer quoted €65 per fob to a fried of mine, I know the hkc ones can be purchased for €45 online ok, problem is this lady is looking for possibly 4 of them and has alread shelved out a large amount of money getting her system upgraded lately, so is trying to keep costs down. She has one hkc one already for herself but she wants to give one to her sister and a carer that calls in on them and one to someone else. I've only ever used the hkc ones myself, so I've no idea which other types exist.

    Thanks

Short answer is no. There are other fobs that can be connected but it means using a universal receiver like an Aritech Quickbridge but that would work out a lot more expensive.

Thanks for that, think I'll have to ring around and try haggle on a price for a few of these hkc fobs then :)

    Hi,

I have the old panel and I setup a GSM Dialler and everything was working fine until I changed the User codes and usernames. Now when I go to go into Dialler menu, it won't go into it. It says that I have to add Read Status, Read Setup, Write Setup, Panel Control. These are all set to Yes under my name. Do I revert back to the original Pin for it to work. I'm not sure what I done for the Dialler menu not to open. Then it pops up that do I want to remove the dialler.

    Any Ideas?

    Ben.
