You are missing the point, you would have drivers beeping you out of it and by doing so you are more prone to creating a serious accident.

Not the impatient gits who cant be patient and dont know how to safely & legally overtake?

Yes it is especially when you are stuck behind them.

Wait for a clear straight stretch and overtake them, it's not rocket science and even a learner knows this.

    Op do you drive F1?

No I drive a saloon car. F1 car wouldn't have any business on Kerry roads.

Neither do you by the sound of things.

Some Kerry roads don't give you an option of overtaking. Continuous white lines in alot of Roads down there.

And you'd ignore them and carry on at a speed reasonable to you.

Would you genuinely rather everyone drove at the speed limit? Not everyone has the same reaction speeds or confidence driving as you do, it would make some people seriously uncomfortable to drive faster than they want to. Yeah slow drivers are an inconvenience but people driving faster than they can do safely would probably cause a lot more crashes than someone driving at 70kph in a 100 zone

You be waiting along time to get a clear straight of road for overtaking on some of the Kerry roads I travel.

If they cant drive a car at 80-100kph then I'm afraid they shouldn't have a licence to drive.

If it wasn't for those pesky mountains we'd have roads as straight as the ones across the Bog of Allen.

Driving 60kph on a 100kph limit is not acceptable. It's 100kph for a reason. Obviously the road was deemed safe to drive 100kph by the relevant governing bodies.

The thing about other road users is that none of them are as flawless and perfect as I am.

So the actions of irresponsible impatient anger filled eejits means that being cautious is illegal?

Better sorry than safe I guess.

That's the thing. It's not cautious; it's dangerous. Yes, inciting other drivers to take unnecessary actions to overtake you is as dangerous as driving fast yourself.

The roads have to be efficient and you can't let the caution and stupidity of a couple of drivers to slow the rest of the road down because that's the speed they drive at.

You should drive at the speed limit when it is appropriate to do so.

Why is there 100kph limits up so in some of these areas?

Oh so we are down to 60kph now? Again just because the limit is 100kph does not mean you have to drive at 100kph. As already stated not everyone is comfortable driving on twisting roads at speed, could be a tourist who doesn't know the roads or just a concerned parent with their child in the car who doesn't drive at speed.

Well then they should pull into a safe place on the roads and let drivers pass them.

Obviously you have driving confidence issues.

Or you should be patient and wait until it's safe to pass instead of letting the red mist descend.

Not in the least, I have been driving 26 years and have driven all over this country and in many others too, You obviously have road rage issues though and those type of drivers are the biggest danger to others.

Again like I said previously, if you care to read my post properly, you would be waiting a good while before you would get an opportunity to do so and if cars are coming in.the opossite direction then you can't go anywhere.

I just drove across the M50 from Blanch to Swords turn off i drove at 80kph all the way as had little lad in car, no tail back behind me.

There is absolutely no reason why an experienced driver in a road fit car cannot drive over 80kph on that motorway and their child ( and everyone else) be safe.

You should write to your TD and tell him to widen the roads just for you then.

Not at all, I just hate seeing bad driving on our roads and doing 60kph in 100kph zone is extremely bad driving and I fear that more than someone who drives at or close to the assigned and recommended speed limit.

Because that's the absolute limit, not some recommended cruising speed.

As everyone knows, the golden rule is that you drive at the speed that enables you to safely stop and avoid any emergency that may arise. On Kerry roads, with all those hills and corners, that can be far far short of the limit. I drive hard myself where circumstances allow, but 20 years of driving here in South Kerry means I know that's rare.
