Is it just me or are Kerry drivers really pathetic?

I drive in Co. Kerry roads everyday for last 9 years and everyday I meet cars that drive 30kph under the speed limit. If it's 100kph they are doing 60-70kph etc. It's really annoying and it should be clamped down. Drive on or get the fuk off the road. Just my opinion buts it's really common down there.

Better they drive under than over imo, take a deep breath, grab a snickers, you suffer road rage when you're hungry.

No it isn't. The Limit is what they should be driving to.

    Here's the thing

The speed limit is not a set speed, it's the TOP speed you can go not the LEAST speed you should go.

It's a limit, not a target. If someone feels safest driving at 70 then your impatience shouldn't dictate that they go at a speed they aren't comfortable with.

Relax, have a Caramel, take in the great scenery. Have spent 20 years on Kerry roads and never get too frustrated, apart from when stuck behind coaches on the Ring.

Jackie Healy Rae got them them roads and the locals don't want to wear them out.

Maybe they're all drunk as they think Healy-Rae's proposal that they should be exempt from drink driving laws was actually successful .

You can't admire the beauty of the kingdom if you too drive fast. :)

Either that or they know the area, know the houses along the road, know there's probably the possibility of Kids playing in the area, know the road signs for speed are total bollocks and way too fast in certain areas.

Driving ridiculously slow should carry a charge of driving without due care and consideration.

There was a story of a man driving a tractor who caused a masibe tail back being charged with something like that.

    Edit

    Here's the link!

Next time I'm on a motorway I will drive 90kph. See where it gets me.

    Yup

Drive 25 kph on a 100kph road deserves a ban, but nothing wrong with driving 70kph on a 100kph road.

Having been a passenger at least in many a car in Kerry, I would also point out that quite a lot of the speed limits down there don't really apply. You might be ALLOWED to do sixty on a narrow, winding mountain path (and there are a lot), but it certainly wouldn't be advisable. Drive at the speed the locals do, there's probably a reason for it. I've seen a couple of places that look fine for driving at the limit, but then there turns out to be a tricky bend or something up ahead.

Edit: I grant 25kph on a 100kph road is not very sensible though.

Would you drive 80kph on a motorway?

And why is it the only county in the country where , coming up to a roundabout, if you intend on going straight ahead, you have to approach on the inside lane?!
I've been saying for years that the driving test must be different down there - if there is one at all!

No it's not, both are equally dangerous. Plenty of studies out there suggest that driving too slow is as dangerous as driving too fast. Driving too slow intensifies road rage and cause other drivers to make silly errors attempting to overtake slow drivers. Some countries have fines for driving too slow such as the U.S.

Slow drivers should be as heavily penalised as fast drivers. You should drive at the speed limit when it is safe to do so.

Who decides when it's safe though? A road might be at a higher limit than it should be for conditions or terrain. Weather might be poor. You might not know the road. There's a reason that there's an element of judgement to the whole thing too.

Control your road rage when seeing a slower driver, everyone else.

So the actions of irresponsible impatient anger filled eejits means that being cautious is illegal?

Better sorry than safe I guess.

70 on a road that has a limit of 100 is neither slow nor dangerous.

It'll get you where you're going, itll just take a little longer than if you drove at 120kph I assume

Exactly 100% agree. If they are driving 60 in a 100 zone then drivers who want to drive at the limit are forced to overtake and can be dangerous doing so. If they were doing the limit or close to it. Then, there would be no need to overtake in the first place.

Yes it is especially when you are stuck behind them.

You are missing the point, you would have drivers beeping you out of it and by doing so you are more prone to creating a serious accident.

Are you in the car that cant slow down because if you slow down it explodes? Was it a terrorist with a gun. How were you forced exactly?

It's just as bad as being behind a tractor at 25kph.
