According to this Computer World Article.
Alcatel-Lucent has launched the 7368 ISAM residential gateway, which uses g.Fast and 802.11ac to offer speeds surpassing 750Mbps, the company said.

We have discussed G.Fast here often before.

It can actually do up to 1Gb/s, but as ED E says, only over very short distances of less then 100meters.

So no, it isn't a replacement for VDSL. Instead it maybe used by Eircom as part of their FTTH rollout where they use G.Fast to avoid running the fibre right into peoples homes. Very handy for apartment buildings, etc.

G.fast technology is designed for buildings where it is impossible to install FTTH directly to customers’ properties.
