    First steak in an airfyer last night. Steak was basically perfect, had it 'resting' on a bed of onion and garlic which were either scorched to bugger (for those that wandered out of cover) or undercooked, the bigger slices were practically raw. It was a bit of a kludge as well cos I like chips with my steak, so they needed to be cooked separately. I think in future, chips in the airfryer, steak and onion and garlic in the ould cast iron skillet.

    Hi all

    Just looking for some advice - I have some lasagne in the freezer and forgot to defrost it for dinner tonight so want to cook it from frozen. Has anyone any idea what temps/times I should cook it for?

    Its the carrolls lasagne

    I usually defrost it before cooking so have no idea about cooking from frozen. I looked on the back of the packaging and can't see anything about cooking from frozen.

    I used to make Shepherds Pie in batches and put them into foil trays and freeze them. I'd then cook them from frozen. It's been a while since I've done it but I think I used to cook them at 180-200 for 45-60mins.

    fwiw, there'll be a Dublin 8 C & R mini-Meet up in the Patriots Inn tomorrow evening. We're going to the comedy effort and will eat there aswell. Come one, come all, etc etc. Won't be staying late, work at 11pm.

    I usually defrost it before cooking so have no idea about cooking from frozen.
    Probably too late now, but those carrolls ones are already cooked, so you are just reheating so no worry about it being properly cooked. I would have defrosted it in the microwave a bit and then put it back in the tray and into the oven. After a while I would cut it down the middle and move the 2 bits apart so it heats more evenly. I do this with them normally anyway as its so dense it takes a good while for the centre to heat.

    tesco often show cooking instructions, though I would not follow these as I reckon the outside would be cremated.

    Usage
    Oven cook (From Chilled): Remove all outer packaging. Preheat the oven to 180°C (Gas Mark 4) and cook the product for 25 minutes.
    Ensure the product is fully heated before serving.

    Microwave (From Chilled): Remove all outer packaging and put the contents on a plate. Cover the plate and put in the microwave (900 W) for 5 minutes. Ensure the product is fully heated before serving.


    Suitable for home freezing.

    Freeze on day of purchase. For freezing guidelines, refer to freezer manufacturer's handbook. Use within one month; place the product directly from the freezer into the oven and double the indicated heating time.

    Hey all, I'm planning on trying a Domimi Kemp bread recipe from the Irish Times.

    Recipe tells me to line the tin. Bake for 45 minutes, then remove from the tin and bake for another 15 on a rack, so it can dry out.

    Does that mean remove the bread from the lining also - I'm guessing it will stick to it (knowing my luck)?

    Yes I'd imagine so.

    Yes I'd imagine so.

    Thanks Db, I'm not much of a bread maker (as in never) so the potential for disaster is great. That said it a seed/nut low carb. recipe so I'm not even sure it can be classed as bread :pac:

    Not long out of the oven - mine needed about 20 minutes extra, it was very wet. Tasty though.

    (And for anyone that cares, 13 portions works out at 230 calories, 8g Carb, 18g fat, 7g protein).

    Had a great day out at Flavours of Fingal yesterday, fantastic set-up.

    I never got a real "foodie" vibe at the place, it was more of an agricultural show where you could get some tasty food and drinks.

    The first field, with the livestock, new farm machinery, equestrian, and food and craft tents was pretty cool, loads of space to wander around and stand at fences to look at whatever was going on. My 14 month old boy loved being able to touch the animals at the small petting area - and he's fascinated with horses too, we got there early and the smaller horses were being paraded by their young riders, nice and slowly around, he had a great time.

    On into the next field where the bouncy castle-type things were set up, not much for the very young there, but the older kids seemed to be having a great time - all included in the entry fee too, so that was particularly great.

    The walled garden was where the catering food stalls were set up, just enough space for the number of people there, and the choice was pretty good and plenty of space between the kiosks so nobody was on top of each other.

    A great family day out, I went with my wife and son, my parents and my brother and his wife and child too.

    I was there yesterday too. Didn't realise you had to pay in so was fairly unimpressed when got in and thought the main area was all there was. A couple of burger vans, a guy on a stage shouting instructions at a bunch of kids, a food tent, some pens with some farm animals, and some tractors. It was all very Craggy Island. :)

    The walled garden area was great. Lots of food places, a stage with some bands playing some great music and lots of things for kids to do. I loved the birds of prey display.

    Food wise I had some amazing pulled beef in a rich gravy served with creamy mash and crispy onions. It was a really decent helping too and only €5. I noticed the Indian place that does be down at Electric Picnic was there too. Although they seemed to have raised their prices a bit.

    The lads from Stone Barrel Brewing along with a new brewery (whose name escapes me) launching their Pilgrim beer. EDIT- Wood Key Brewing

    It was great day, and the weather held up too which was an added bonus. :)

    Mrs Billy & The Kids are away for a few days. Am wracking my brains trying to think of something indulgent to cook myself for dinner that I don't usually get to cook.

    After 6 months of being back home, I've gotten so used to either having my meals cooked for me during the week or me cooking "family favourites" at the weekends - I just can't think of what I want to cook for myself. Arrrgggghhhh!!!
