    Wimbledon 2015 (Monday 29th June - Sunday 12th July)

    Qualifying begins 22 June.

Presumably Djokovic and Federer will be #1,#2 seeds respectively.

I can't see past Murray winning it to be honest, he's been getting closer and closer to ending his losing streak against Djokovic and I think he'll finally do it.

Djokovic also hurting from his FO final defeat.

Wawrinka to underperform ... Federer might make it to the final - but wherever he meets Murray will be it for him.

    Serena should walk the womens.

Good luck to McGee in the qualies ...

Yeah I think Murray will win aswell. It will be similar to 2013 I think. Murray will win, Djokovic will get to the Semis or final and Nadal and Federer won't get past 4th Round.

Murray playing very well and likes grass, grass is Djokovic's worst surface and Murray is better on grass, also Djokovic will be reeling after his loss at RG. I don't think Nadal is finished altogether, I actually think he can win the US Open but his days of reaching Wimbledon finals are over. Federer I'm unsure of but he certainly won't beat Djokovic or Murray imo and he could get beat early by someone playing fearlessly with nothing to lose.

Serena will win on the snaff, no one will touch her.

James McGee will play Tobias Kamke in the first round of qualifying. They are the first match on Court 10 tomorrow. Jurgen Melzer will play his brother Gerald in qualifying as well!:o

I would love a federer nadal final with Federer winning.

However realistically murray and djokovic will probably be in it.

Id love to see a big server going deep as well however

McGee has taken the first set in a tie break and it is 2-2 in the second.

If Wawrinka serves and plays his service game to any standard near what he hit in the FO then he definitely has a chance.

I wouldn't discount Federer. He was a finalist last year and won Halle again at the weekend. His form this season has been consistent on all surfaces and this is his favourite turf of all.

I don't think the FO loss will phase Novak too much though. And I'd be surprised if he didn't win it.

Drawing Kamke then Falla plus another match to get into the main draw was extremely tough.

As always, I didn't realise a thread had been created. Really disappointed for James :(

    Really?

    Really?

Yep i would. I see it as a massive skill and to execute it under pressure is more impressive than rallying from 2 metres behind the baseline waiting for the opponent to make a mistake, IMO

I can't see Roger challenging at SW19 this year. I hope Andy wins. It's Andy or Nole for me. Not sure SW19 suits Stan enough.

When is the main draw being made?

Djokovic for me is the favorite, esp if he avoids a Murray Semi, which even if he wins it will probably be a long one. I don't see a problem with the FO loss, he lost the final last year as well and it didn't impede his wimby.

Murray may be getting closer but Djokovic has beaten him four times already this year and I cant see that changing unless Murray gets him after a draining match beforehand.

No one else apart from those two has much of a chance, Federer is playing nice sharp tennis but he only has to have one mediocre day to be knocked out - easy enough on grass, Cilic brought Djokovic to 5 sets last year (only player apart from Federer to do it) but he has been in poor form, and Stan is far too streaky to depend on. No one else has shown enough to win it.

Draw is on Friday I think. Usually around 10am.

No, I think it's terrific, it's actually felt like a grass season this year. Still hard to consider it a proper season without a masters, but it's been better.

It's on TG4 every year, as Gaeilge of course.

And they have highlights that night, usually around 11 or half past. In English. I'm such an addict I watch the matches during the day and then the highlights at night.:o

    Commentary in Irish ?

That must be interesting to say the least - do they have half an idea of tennis ? or are they GAA commentators ushered in and told to imagine it's hurley but with rackets ??

I'm not sure how much they know tbh. I watch on the BBC and I'd have to brush up on the aul cupla focal if I were to understand them. I actually think TG4 use the same commentators for Wimbledon that they use for their Tour de France coverage but I could be mistaken. Because Wimbledon is a week later this year it will actually clash with the first week of the Tour so I'm not sure what they will show.

I just checked on UPC guide thingy for next week and can't find it either? They don't even have highlights listed for the evening.

It is listed on Setanta Ireland though... have they nicked the rights?

EDIT: I've just asked them on Twitter and they said unfortunately no, they're not showing it this year :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,919 ✭✭✭RosyLily

Aw no!!!!:( Maybe you're right TME...Setanta have the rights now. What a shame. Those late-night highlights were really handy.

Got an email from Wimbledon reminding me that Ticketmaster will also have tickets available. The temptation!

Murray and fed in same half of the draw.....

Nadal in murrays quarter too... Berdych in that half too.

Djokovic and Stan on the other side.

    Great draw for djokovic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,276 ✭✭✭Memnoch

Dream come true for Murray. Not a surprise to see him get this draw with no Novak or Stan, the two most likely to beat him in his half.

Wimbledon do a sterling job again. They'd be confident enough in Murray brushing past an aging Federer. Natal probably won't even make it that far and Tsonga's a known choker.

Pretty good draw for Djokovic, first 'handy' looking one he has got in a while. Nishikori and Cilic might make things interesting, and of course Stan might play well two tournaments in a row for the first time...

The other half looks pretty treacherous, but its funny how these things can unfold.

Really looking forward to it now.
