What comments are people talking about?

The comment feed under the news coverage of it on the Fox news website.

What comments are people talking about?

the comments under the story on the fox news site. honestly I'd recommend you don't read them. normally I'm quite good at ignoring trolls but they're particularly bad

What comments are people talking about?

Unbelievably insensitive comments under the story on the Fox News site. People blaming the victims, hispanic construction works, liberal politicians and the same sex marriage referendum. Astonishing.

Terrible news. RIP to those that have died and my thoughts are with those injured.

Again from the Indo reporter Brian O'Reilly:

Hi Una, early indications are that some are from Dublin, however this has not yet been confirmed.

Wont post the speculation here but on the reddit thread a couple of people "seem" to know bits and pieces including one lad who is in the same complex. If people want to know.

FOX News site has a bad rep for this to begin with

add in the comments are from the kind of people who are up trolling news websites to make racist remarks at 4 or 5 in the morning and you can imagine the type

My assumption is that there were too many people on a balcony at once and it collapsed. Four stories. Christ.

From the many photos on the news sites. It appears the balcony they were on collapsed and fell on the one below it. The students all fell to the ground.

from the pic it looks like the balcony broke off and fell onto the one below...plus the front came off so they then fell

this is purely from looking at the pic though

    Brian O'Reilly:

Hi Trish, this information won't be released until all families have been informed. The Department are contacting the families currently.

People should stop focusing on the comments. It's not as we don't know how it works. If it had been 5 Mexicans you can be sure there would be a few "jokes" here on Afterhours.

it doesnt look like the balcony just fell, it looks like part of it is still actually connected to the wall but as another poster above mentioned, it just flipped over - you can this by the fact that the inside part where you would walk out to it is the part thats now exposed.

another sad aspect here is that it appears to be one of only a few apartments in that block that had a balcony :(

No the front didn't come off it turned upside down so the back became the front etc.

Fox News says balcony collapsed onto the one below and victims fell to the ground. Four dead at scene, bodies still there waiting for coroner. Pictures on Sky News also now that it's getting light. Looks horrendous.

If 5 young Mexicans died in Ireland I would be just as upset. If Mexicans were over here on a j1 or something and died I would feel so bad for them. I'm not sad cause these people are Irish, its just sad when any young people die.

And this is the way it should be done. Families need to be told first. I still keep thinking of that story of the father who heard about the death of his son on twitter because some heartless person wanted the attention of breaking the news first.

But there wouldnt be anyone looking at the accident as a good thing and are happy they'e dead.

    Brian O'Reilly:
It is being reported that the balcony would have been designed to hold 12-13 people maximum.

The top floor balcony gave way and fell but it fell and remains on the balcony directly below it. The horrible thought is that people who were standing on the balcony that collapsed were catapulted forward and down.

this girl is at the scene reporting that victims possibly from Donegal.

earlier it had been said to be DCU students so i guess perhaps it was a case of 2+2 = they were from Dublin.

unforunately this type of speculation will continue for while yet :(

They arent 'jokes' though, they are celebrating that these kids died.

Realistically with college students can be from all over, just because they go to DCU,DIT or UCC, CIT doesnt mean they are from Dublin or Cork. Could be from anywhere..man this is not good.

I can't even imagine what this is like for the families of the people involved.

How you can read about this and lack basic empathy for victims and their loved ones, and go and post some of those comments under that article is beyond my comprehension.

    Horrible story.

A friend of mine is a few minutes walk from where it happened. She's fine, thankfully. The poor poor people, it's so horrific :(

I think the families should hear the names first. Speculation is not going to help anybody. According to the radio, there are 500-700 Irish students in that area every year with the j1 visas. RIP and heartfelt condolences to the families.

, We should all go on and gloat when some american soldiers get killed and see how they like it.

    Seriously? Two wrongs?

I can just visualise tara moriarty nodding with faux concern as she's being asked questions by the news "anchor"
