Got a real good feeling about Last Guardian this year too!

Nintendo World Championships starting right now by the way... looks like it could be fun.

Rumours are that it's just going to be a teaser for Last Gaurdian, nothing in game or else a scripted scene in engine since gameplay is not implemented. And if it's a teaser it means that the game is in such bad shape and so early in development (make no mistake that development if still on going has been completely restarted from scratch with Ueda leaving and the move to PS4) that you won't see the game for 2-3 years at least. I'd put my money on it becoming vapourware at this stage. Sony are kind of desperate to show anything at this show, even mentioning Last Gaurdian with nothing to show is a win for them.

Holy ****ing ****, how did I miss this. Nintendo is bringing Mother 1 (the Earthbound prequel) to the WiiU virtual console:

I'm amazed that Nintendo is acknowledging the game exists at all but it's great to see it happening.

It might also mean we might just see Mother 3 for the VC.... The only thing is that Mother 1 is an easy port since it was fully localised but not released.

    The Crystal Maze Indiegogo campaign:

Richard O'Brien will be making a come back - sorta.

Tempted to buy a crystal for £30!

Looks like it's just Wii U... would have liked it for 3DS.

Still reeling my jaw back in. Even as a backdoor prototype to the series, it's still a game worth playing.

Considering Ninty have been making strides to rebrand themselves somewhat in recent times, it'd be fine time for them to create a bit of good will and just commission Tomato's translation of Mother 3. It's not like it's rinky-dink fans-trans either, he's a translator by trade and everyone who worked on it had to pass his standards. There'll be an inevitable bit of censorship and editing involved, but it actually be a sensible business decision if I suss it right.

Can't say I really saw the point in Mario Maker.

But the Nintendo World Championships has really sold me on it now. Amazing stuff happening right now!

Ehhh. It be more realistic to expect a Shenmue HD Collection.

The Hammer Bros riding on top of a giant Blooper Squid was the stuff of nightmares.

Kodi is gone now, is it OSMC?

Kodi is still in active development no? It was formerly XBMC. Not sure what OSMC is but it seems to be for the Pii & Vero?

OSMC is an installable Linux distro with a modified version of Kodi as the frontend ,similar to OpenElec.

Ah, cool. Kodi is doing what I need for now so I'll crack on with the migration. I've all the films done, & sequels grouped into sets etc and all the info scrapers up & running - it's pretty sweet really. After testing, I noticed a lot of videos had frame rate issues (how people to this day still say they don't notice lower/poor framerates is beyond me). A bit of troubleshooting later, & it was one of the audio options. There's a myriad of options & configurations available, runnign sweet...for the moment :o

I used Filebot to rename everything and sort out issues and then a file scraper for XBMC for IMDB to get info etc.

This will save me literally hours of work, thank you :) The scrapers are really something, I've got shows like Bad Influence stored that I thought would be so obscure they'd be blank - but I'm getting artwork, main review of each episode, dates etc. It really is cool. I done season 1 manually (renaming), & then moved to Filebot for the rest & it completed it all automatically & in a fraction of the time!

In the past I’ve used XBMC, KODI and Plex. In the end, while they look very pretty and all that extra info is really cool(IMDB, reviews, trailers, episode synopsis’s etc) I decided none of them were for me.
Now, I’m only talking about video content and not music, but what I find perfect(for my brain) is an Apple TV and an iOS device running Air Video HD. It’s a really nice app that can sync your settings across devices and it just works from the folders I assign to the streaming/transcoding utility on windows(the downside is the PC must always be on, but I never power down my main PC anyway, ever:)).
It just works for me and is zero hassle, you can stream most video content without issue and if you have any vids in a weird codec or format it will transcode and play.

That’s my setup in my living room at the moment anyway, as I said it works well for me as I like running stuff from folders/sub folders etc. My only issue is I plan on getting nice 4K tv this year once the new sets are released over the summer. At that stage I’ll need to rethink my playback device as the Apple TV+Air Video HD will max out at 1080p so maybe KODI + Mini Media PC in the living room will be my best bet.

I've zero need for streaming/transcoding etc (yet anyway), as the HTPC is connected directly into the only tv that's used for media. That's why I've not bothered with backend/frontend setups, & just wanted an interface that accessed the media directly. Hearing that Windows Media Centre is essentially defunct now that Windows 10 won't support it, I needed to look at alternatives.

For my needs, Kodi ticks the boxes, & so far (am still configuring), it's all working out nicely. If in the event I need other tv's in the house to access this media, I'll more than likely look at Plex as the backend on the htpc, & put clients on the other tvs for frontends.

I find Plex brilliant, but I have my PC upstairs on the opposite side of the house to the TV, so streaming is the only way it's really workable, and Plex does that perfectly for me.

Just got myself a MX3 off a fella in work, he was ordering one for himself so got him to throw one in for me. Look forward to having a mess around on it and seeing what it can do.

I'm so out of the loop didnt even realise that XBMC has been changed to Kodi.

Cidonalad would go mad for this!

Both that and the backwards compatibility with xbox 360 games, on both disc and digital were the highlights of xbox e3 show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,695 ✭✭✭DinoRex

I'm willing to bet the backwards compatibility will be about as impressive as the Xbox 360's was.

OK now, I've played all the console MGS titles, never played Peace Walker, and I love them all but I cant be the only one who its still a bit confused about the whole story haha I forget most of the ending of MGS4

That said, Holy **** does that look amazing!

    Ah yes, look amazing.
And amazing it is, right up to the point that you've got to sit through another cinema.
At the end of 2 hours in front of your console you realise you've only been actually playing the game for 20 minutes.

Here's a cool AI thing i came across.

You can download the source code and try it yourself.
I have it up and running here its gas watching the AI try to beat different levels in super Mario world.
It takes many hours thought for the AI to finish the level lol.
if anyone is interested in setting this up give me a shout.

I won't be truly impressed with that HoloLens technology until it can show me Ron Jeremy shagging on my coffee table.

Hello retro lovers, I'm clearing out the attic at the moment in preparation for an attic conversion and I found my old Atari 2600, the older square looking one and my old commodore vic 20
The commodore has a good few games a mix or tapes and cartridges and it all associated wires and it powers on although I don't have an old school TV to see if it really works.

The Atari it just the console and the controller so far although I may come a cross more.

Mod edit: No looking for valuations, it just ends up the poster getting either unsolicited offers or that's what they wanted in the first place, look on eBay at sold items, great way to get a valuation there.

The vic 20 is missing 2 or 3 buttons.

Argh! (`Д´) You just got in before me.
PC and PlayStation 4, I won't get the chance to play it unless I'm up with Retr0.

No physical release for PS4 is dumb!
