Cheats often just encourage players to not bother learning to play the game properly.
To be honest it's like reading a novel and skipping the hard parts by just referring to a wiki instead.
You're just wasting your time playing it in the first place.

Wow, that was harsh even for me!

What I think I find most depressing about that video is that all the people in it look far too old to have not played Contra or even know what it is.

Kinda leads to the question '****, how old am I?!' :D

You have to realise when they were born. I was watching one episode there when they were letting them listen to 90's music. One of the girls was disappointed that she didn't know the music of her decade since she was a 90's kid. They asked her her date of birth. 21 December 1999.

Well, in all honesty, 90's music is a fairly wide spectrum of quality, from this

    to this

and ending on this work of genius

Memories of good music from the 90s tend to creep up on me.

Sadly a listing of the best songs of the 90's just looks like a listing of recent hits to my old aural canals :(
I seem to remember it all too well as I was gainfully employed for the whole decade, I'm still working there ffs!

    80's, that's where it's at!

No, it just becomes a source of unsolicited private messages.
We have a Marketplace and, with a little googling, people should be well capable of finding the value of things out there.

I was a member of a game valuation group on fb for a few days. Full of people posting pictures asking what an item is worth, somebody would answer with a price only for the person who originally asked for the valuation claiming that they are selling for x amount on eBay. Why ask in the first place if you already know.

Trust me it was an easy decision. What's this about Achilles career aspirations, must have missed that one.

    Kids, eh? :)
I dont know how they do it but the stupid expressions on their faces in the thumbnails for those reaction videos always make me want to punch the screen, its like they go through it frame by frame to find the most irritating expression then use that...

Just registered for an account with the file host mega.co.nz and they're giving away 50GBs free.

I had been downloading large files e.g. 15GBs in size publicly recently and it always maxes out my internet connection!

Pretty damn good file host in my book.

Only drawback is it requires a proper html5 browser so safari is out.

Getting so pissed off with ebay lately. Every few days I`ll check the auctions for games or whatever, and I swear the site is just full of reproductions and bootlegs, and ebay aren't doing anything about it. Came across this while browsing, what if he hadn't mentioned it was a repro, it would have fetched a tonne of money and some poor fecker wouldn't know the difference

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hagane-The-Final-Conflict-SNES-Cart-Only-Rare-Reproduction-Cart-PAL-/321764516870?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4aeaa8e406

That had a legitimate pal release, I spent a decent chunk of money on it a few years ago. It sickens me when I see people doing it. I ain't no saint, I think it's fine for JP rpgs that never got a western release or expensive games for home use so you can experience them on real hardware, but every add is full of repro boxes, manuals and games with huge markups. Then there's all the other worms selling the plastic cases with a piece of paper sleeve for 10 euros a pop. I got out of game collecting a year or 2 ago and I swear it was never this bad for the snes, it was the gba.

If it's for personal use I don't see a problem, but I'm convinced there's people selling expensive games that are fake for profit. If you fork out 50e on a game, I'd make sure to ask the seller to send a picture of the pcb before sending the payment, its gotten way out of hand

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 34,753 CMod ✭✭✭✭CiDeRmAn

But the seller clearly labeled it as a repro so what's the problem.
Should these games be the exclusive purview of those who can pay the prices the market and speculators have decided they're worth?
If you'd rather not just have an installed SD card in a flash cart, and want a physical representation of the game.
No, as long as we are open about reproduction games then there should be no issue with it.
Con men online have always been there, taking money from gullible buyers, and its usually a case that if something is too cheap to be true its not typically true and if something is a genuine rare article the seller won't have a problem providing some sort of proof, a shot of the PCB or similar.

The problem I have with it is for the one seller who's pointed out its a repro, how many other copies have been sold where the seller hasn't pointed it out, or is unaware of the fact. Too cheap to be true is a moot point in an auction. Making legit available releases easily circulate online in the form of repros is damaging to the market. He paid 40 pounds sterling for that cart, he could have a legit Japenese version for a little more
