9-11,000 - Astra GTC vs Sirocco vs ?

Will be buying in the next few months. 9,000 to 11,000 GBP budget at the moment.
Looking for a nice diesel, something similiar to my old audi a3 2.0 tdi 140bhp.

Thinking of an Astra GTC or Scirocco. would maybe consider high spec golf or a3 again. Like the hyundai veloster but only 1.6 diesel engine however one model has 204 bhp.

Looks like I'm getting a newer car for my money with the GTC. VW hold value more?

opinions appreciated.

I had practically the same car, they're a very good and underrated motor.

Comfortable, drives well. The main problem is the engine is rough even by modern diesel standards and not particularly economical either. The problem lies with the weight - its a very heavy car. The Scirocco is a better bet if you need a diesel one imo.

Likewise, i have a '14 GTC SRi diesel.. nicer looking than a scirrocco IMO and you'll probably get a newer car for the price than you would for the Scirocco. . Not sure what the radio in the high spec sciroccos are like but the look of astra one is the only thing i dont like. Very basic.

The Leon has more power then the scirroco.
