Are both the Christmas and Summer end of term days a half day, some teachers say 'yes' others say 'no' ?
This time of year has schools finishing up with house exams leading up to the end of term.Yet some schools seem to have very few students 'in' on the last day whereas others have students in until lunchtime and then finish off with a staff meeting'til 4:00 while there are the schools that finish with a half day and go for a staff lunch after a staff meeting. What is the norm? I know one school,at least ,that are there 'til 4:00 as normal on the Friday of the Summer hols! What the story in your place?

5th years finish their exams tomorrow, 2nd finished today, 1st years yesterday. Friday is a staff day, usually we have everything wrapped up by lunchtime on the Friday.

6th Years graduated a week ago but everyone else will have exams on Friday until 11.30 then staff meetings until around 1.

This is half the problem with bad pr for us.

Facing into three months holidays and splitting hairs over the school over the road being finished a few hours earlier.

Officially there should be no half days. Remember the threat of inspectors before Christmas back about 2003?

Fond memories of corridors with 5 and 6 students per room, all shouting about can they not go home and being forced to watch videos.

Yea that is the problem in reality 6-7 in classes which is grand to work on things individuality most of the time during the year but on last day really what are you to do with them.

Man no plan has a point it dies look terrible for teachers to be crying over finishing at 4 instead of 1 when you have 3 full months off (or just about )

I agree. We were fairly close to a Department office and used to occasionally get visits. We would have the 5/6 in a class in the morning. They would be told nobody was getting home early, so they would all stay at home in the afternoon, apart from the usual few kids you get who hang around the school all the time, not wanting to go home.

Terrible waste of time when we could have been getting on with corrections etc..
