Replace APT boiler timer and IMIT thermostats

    Afternoon all,

I have an APT analogue timer and radiator on / off switch sitting side by side above my boiler (actually screwed into a double width box buried in the wall, see attachment), and the timer has a few buttons missing which makes it hard to control the heating.

I'd like to take the opportunity while upgrading the controller to separate the zones of the house of the house. There is a radiator thermostat upstairs, and also one downstairs, both of which feed into the single switch beside the timer (two sets of wires into the one switch), I'd like to control both of these zones, as well as their times, independently when I upgrade.

As for the thermostats, we have IMIT mechanical thermostats (see attachment), and I'd like to replace them with silent, or at least quiet, digital thermostats, the mechanical ones with their loud clockwork sounding action are quite irritating and I'd like to get rid of them once and for all!

Can any of you recommend a suitable replacement digital boiler controller and replacement digital thermostats? If it helps, the boiler is a Firebird S 90.

    Thanks in advance,

    Frank.

You could get rid of the timer and put a programmable room stat in place of the current stats and a standard timer for the cylinder. You'd need to get somebody who understands how to wire heating controls properly.
