Pretty sure this is the one you're on about. Brilliant video and made that bully Derek Byrne look like a right eejit.

That guard....err Sergeant is a legend. Great dialogue from him and really shows the best way to best these scumbag protestors is with brains not brawn.

Sounds like your past experiences with guards haven't been positive. Have you had many?

You should take a walk up and give them a piece of your mind instead of whining like a bitch on the internet about it

Well he could, but the toerags would probably smash a bottle in his face ...

Nah. I don't think they're that bad. Probably just a youtube video with "shame on you", "scumbag" slurs being thrown my way. Terrifying.

Back to the OP's original problem. Can we not agree that regardless the cause, and regardless who's wrong or right on.the issue - it remains wrong for a small group to deliberately try and cause the maximum disruption to everyone, without warning and refusing to obey any request from the Gardai to move.

I mean, last year between 50 and 100,000 protested ( I don't want this to degenerate into a who's estimate was right) against water charges. It was well publicised, well policed, passed of mostly without incident and with minimum disruption. It resulted in changes to the water charges and it's billing.

After that protest, like last night and on a few other occasions, a minority has decided it was their right to block main arteries of Dublin, píss off everyone, confront the Gardai and act the maggot. They've achieved nothing, they've alienated support for their issue and generally been pricks.

Couldn't put it any better than that.

Its my understanding from what I seen on social media that they protesting over a guy being remanded in custody for a week: to which they should by logic protest outside the place he's held in custody; blocking any busy road or busy bridge at 5 evening hour when people are coming home from doing a days work is both counter productive + fcuking idiotic; I am against water charge's on principle; but those clown's blocking o connell bridge last night in no way shape or form represent me.

You were all delighted when the original rates were dramatically lowered in the eye of the protests.
    Too trendy to admit though.

Everybody doesn't have to pay IW water charges.
Everybody isn't opposed to water charges.
Everybody doesn't believe the lowering of rates were due to the protests.

    Go it?

Yeah I'm pretty sure it was the organised protests which achieved that. The ones where everyone had advance warning that a march would be taking place.

And I'm sorry but "trendy"...? Okay grandad.

Yeah, you are right. I shouldn't respond to threads without being more specific.

And how did you know I'm a grandad?

Just harness the spirit of JJ, Noel, Tommy et al, pick out the youngest and damage them.

I see your knowledge of hurling is the same as your knowledge on 1916, nonexistent.

For clarity I wad there and attended the national protest in Dublin last October + the local protest last November, the difference been those two protests were announced in advance so people could make alternative travel arrangements if needed, blocking a busy road or busy bridge at evening hours with no advanced warning or notice to people, who are trying to come home from a days work serves no purpose and only further alienates people.

Nope. Just means the shortfall being covered through tax rather than on a per use basis. The lower rate will actually cost a middle income earner more over all.

Keyboard warriors a lot of them.

How exactly ? I could accuse you of being a keyboard warrior for labeling the rest of the posters as such without saying it their faces.
