Questions to get to know someone?

Hey AH. How you doing? Well? Good, good. Shut up for a second.

Here's the deal. Say you were trying to devise a kind of a game. It would consist of there being a bunch of questions that you could both answer, and hopefully the answers to those questions would let you get to know each other better. What would those questions be? Say like, you had 60 minutes to try and get to know someone as well as you could. What would you ask them? Or if someone had to try to get to know you over the course of one night, what would be the questions they could ask you that you think would leave them thinking they had a bit of an understanding of who you are?

    That kinda thing.

The way to get to know someone is to ask them what questions they would ask you and their questions tell you more about them and your answers.
    But here goes anyway.

    About me

What are your Fav Music Genres?

    Are you creative or logical?

How do you get on with your family?

Why do you do the good things that you do?

Why do you do the bad things that you do?

Are you loyal? Have you ever misplaced your loyalty?

    What puts you on guard?

    What disarms you?

    Indoor or Outdoor?

Are you an all weather friend or a fair weather friend?

    Do you care?

    Are you happy?

    Can you laugh?

    Micro or Macro?

    Serious (humanities answer)

    What are your aspirations?
Are you liberal or conservative. What are your views on the death penalty, 20 week abortions? How would/did you vote on the Civil Marriage referendum?
What do you think about Northern Ireland?
    What is your favourite sport/team?
    Are you religious?
    What is your job?
Jedward, should they die a slow or painful death within the next week (sorry, can't help it)
How important is family to you?
    What are your main hobbies.
    Are you a happy person?
    Do you like alochol/drugs.
Would you ever consider using a prostitute?
Have you or have you ever been a member of the Fianna Fail party (Again, I kill me)
What political party would you associate with?
What do you desire most in a boy/girlfriend?
How important is money to you?
    What music do you like?
Would you ever consider running for public office?
    Daddy or chips?

    (1) Do you get on with your parents / family?
    (2) Do you believe in the supernatural?
    (3) Do you follow any religion?
    (4) Are you a c*nt?

    Those'd be my top 4.

Something else I guess Evil. Like say, if someone already knew you quite well, but you felt you wanted them to know you better, what could they ask you to get at who you really were, under it all.

People have egos and will only tell you what they want you to hear and research has shown that people don't know themselves very well at all.

But I'll play: what do you do in your free time?

    Answer yes, then anything goes!

Do YOU have a kick ass sense of humour? Are you forgiving? Do you see the other person's point of view?

If I was a carpenter, and you were a lady, would you have any work going hanging doors or something?

I read a piece recently written by a man whose father had passed away recently. He was regretted never getting to know his father well enough or finding out more about his life before he had kids so he wrote down five questions he wished he had asked him.

    1. What is your greatest regret?
    2. What were your hopes and dreams as a child?
    3. What would you like to see change in the world over the next ten years?
    4. What was the most rebellious thing you did as a young person?
    5. What can you remember about your first kiss?

Possibly not the type of thing to ask people in the pub but I think it's a really nice way to glimpse a part of our parents lives before we existed.

There's a really good exercise we used in work once. You have a group of people on a sinking ship and only half of them will fit in the life boat. You have to choose who is worthy of a place. It reveals a lot about people.

Could people answer objectively to those? You have to question them about the things they do and have already done. :)

I'm taking this very seriously - it's an interesting topic though.
