Alcohol is not dangerous in moderation, in fact probably beneficial.

Even a little bit of cocaine can be fatal.

I very much doubt this girl was a hardcore druggie, just terrible luck, and if it was one of my daughters I'd be devastated (plus wondering what the hell a 9, 6 or 2 1/2 year old was doing taking ecstasy...).

I can never really muster the energy to debate whether certain drugs should or shouldn't be decriminalised (or measured in grams LOL...), I'd have to look more into it for ecstasy before forming a solid opinion.

Cool, Swiwi is gonna do drugs this weekend!

Even so, it's a dangerous product, and even more so, they KNOW the damage it does. Just like smokers.

I wonder if a loved one of the poster's died due to smoke related cancer would they still have no sympathy?

My uncle is currently very close to that situation. He doesn't have any sympathy for himself. He knowingly put himself in that position and realises now that he's paying the price. It is sad, just like this news story is sad. We all feel for his family and for my mother and her family. At the same time, like he himself, we all acknowledge that he did it to himself. I feel bad for him without feeling sympathy per se. In much the same way I do for this girl.

A few joints many years ago were the limits of my illicit drug experiences, nowadays no chance I'd dabble, could lose my job even if being used recreationally in my own free time.

Happy just to indulge my ethanol habit tbh. I also have a penchant for caffeine.

Each to their own, I just think that it's a very sad and cold thing not to feel sympathy for someone in that situation.

I mean, if the likelihood of dying from a pill is less than being killed in a bus crash, are we supposed to not feel sympathy for people who use buses?

Try ether, it's the next ethanol.

My sympathy would extend so far. However, if other people get blamed for the death (the parents, the drug dealer, the nightclub owner, the government etc) it goes too far. I'm with Sky Mango Tux that at some point personal responsibility and the consequences of ones actions comes into it too.

Which is the argument to decriminalise and regulate...

    Totally agree

It depends on the situation I suppose, but if someone has been smoking 40 a day for decades fully knowing what they're doing the whole time it's hard to have a huge amount of sympathy, but I think that is different to a young person who takes ecstacy once every now and then at a club or festival or something. Yes you should know the dangers, but you have to be so seriously unlucky to die from taking a normal dose, i don't think it's directly comparable

Ah, it's good to have a bit more of a topical debate away from rugby. You know the posters here and respect them. You don't have to go out into the other areas of the site where there are more trolls congregating.

Also, I like getting another view of posters. We've a very narrow exposure to one another's views when they're solely based on rugby. I might think a certain poster is an arseh*le but seeing their comments on something else can prompt me to realise how hasty I can be.

Yip, like some guy called Buer for example. One he started posting on American Football, I thought "hey, this guy ain't so bad after all".

When I was typing that, I was wondering which posters would think I was talking about them.

Well don't worry, folks, it's all of you.

    So...

Logged into my pc in with today using a "vodafone mobile content" connection, which was installed from an old huawei cell, by mistake.

5 mins later start getting text messages to my meteor phone (samsung) that my daily allowance is used up, all i check balance data 75megs used.

Suddenly realized that the pc is using my fcuking phone as a hot spot!! Check my phone and hotspot tethering is turned off!

Phoned meteor who were as helpful as a bag of kittens.

Got a sudden realisation as to how interconnected everything is..... big brotherish.....

Started watching the League again... It's brilliant. I wish I knew more about American Football to get into a fantasy league.

Draft a kicker in the first round and you're sorted.

I've been messing about the past few weeks to see if I can build a fantasy league for the Pro 12. Would be great fun I reckon.

The problem with sports like rugby (and especially soccer) is that they just don't lend themselves to fantasy anywhere near as well as the stats driven american sports.

Yea they don't, but they can still be fun enough!

I used to think this until I learned there were posters from North Dublin on this forum.

There was a poll recently on here actually, contrary to popular belief it seems most of our Leinster supporting posters are actually from the northside.
