    Ban the high horse brigade
    Ban the PC brigade
Ban posters who compile groups into "brigades"
Let posters call other posters utter **** when they are
Mods will only be allowed to intervene with a "careful now" or "Ah cmon that's not on" - no cards or bans
Kick the dry cnuts and "what would mammy think" types out

    Ban re-regs.

I'd get rid of a lot of the rules tbh. AH was more fun when I joined Boards in 2007/2008 and the site wasn't so terrified of controversy that it shut down any debate which resulted in any form of conflict or even just banter.

Split it in two. One forum where it's 'PC' for want of a better phrase, and regulated and modded etc beyond belief, where one group of the posters can hang out, and anyone acting the pup will be banned on sight as they knew where they were, another where you just say whatever you think and no one can complain that they find something offensive as they knew what they were in for when they hoped the fence, and they'll be banned on sight. Then everyone's happy.

That's a pretty good idea. There should be a section on Boards where anything goes and you can have a laugh without the mods breathing down your neck.

Lol, would be nice. Too bad, I highly doubt the PC brigade would be capable of staying in their forum knowing people in another forum are speaking truths and not caring about looking like the best boys in enda kennys class of dweebs.

    Impose zero tolerance on mis-spelling.

And zero tolerance for shítty grammar. To be implemented on all forums.

I'd say remove all rules and regulations. Let the invisible hand take care of After Hours.

I'm sure we can be relied upon to police ourselves.

Ban anyone who quotes a long post and replies solely with "".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,006 ✭✭✭_Whimsical_

Ban anyone who asks for links to back up very basic common sense. Who could be bothered researching information to point out the painfully obvious to someone else? Sure if it's a direct clarifiable point like "x public figure once said this" or "this once happened" it's necessary but stuff like "Oh! Well have you got links to prove that old people die???" etc is just an effort to frustrate conversation in the hope they'll wear you down with their pedantry.
If it continues it'll end in "I can't let you continue this conversation unless you come to my house and express this point to me via interpretative dance" etc.

If the AH mods are posting in a thread and they dislike their opinions being dissected as they may be incorrect or otherwise they need to either unfollow the thread or say they got it wrong. Throwing their toys out of the pram and issuing mod warnings or cards etc to win their argument is infantile.
Its pretty simple you cannot watch the parade and drive in it at the same time.

Yes. I know. Yours wasn't a long post, per se. Not my fault. If the joke doesn't work it's down to you.

I was thinking that banning all stupid people from posting would be a good idea, but that would inevitably result in After Hours becoming a liberal echo-chamber. Knee-jerk, right-wing idiocy is all part of the charm of AH, and allows me to feel a strong sense of superiority.

Can we ban the words "PC brigade"? Some people are fúcking pathological about getting it into every single thread they post in, it makes AH incredibly boring to read sometimes when there's post after post of no substance, just some vague dig at an amorphous entity that may or may not post in the thread at some unspecified point.

In fact, any use of the term brigade to refer to anything other than the military configuration?

It's a shorthand for 'I disagree, but am not intellectually equipped to refute your point in an adult manner'.

Ban the term Millennial when referring to a group of people. There are no precise dates when the generation starts and ends so it means nothing. It can mean birth years from the early 1980's to the 2000's. Just say people who make you feel old.

A ban for anyone who jumps into a new thread and demands "where is the poll??"

It takes time people, the thread goes up before the poll does

But doesn't that just make you the anti-brigade brigade? So you're basically refuting your own point, basically.

How is a fire brigade a military configuration anyway? Unless you're talking about the navy?
