Joint ill calf

    Have a calf with joint ill. Leg badly infected,bursted out,very sore now. Injecting him for the last 3 weeks. Any ideas,its not looking good.

    The only advice I can give isn't really advice but what we did in the past with calves.
    We'd wash the burst joint/inflamed joints with lukewarm salted water to clean out the infection or bring t to a head. Did it to calves over the years with inflamed joints with varied success. 2/3 times a day with warm water & salt.

    What's he getting injection wise?

    Salt water works well or if time is an issue a salt poultice works well either and change it every second day. Also found you just have to stick with treatment as long as it takes. Had a lad getting treatment for three and a half months before that came right. He's been changed from noroclav to betamox la to Linco spectun . In the end he would walk up for his injection.

    Getting noroclav for a few weeks, On 3rd bottle.used sald and water. Bluestone and water its opened up well but now very raw and no real healing taken place.

    if u have a bit of time you could do a bit of physio on the leg, the ligaments seize up when the calf is not active and this can cripple the calf
