This is the second time you have gotten one of my "hard" ones. (did it in Ireland thread as well)

If you had done the entire Alaska Highway it would be bit of giveaway. ;)

I thought that would be hard to get since most people assume BC is mountains and forests.
Dawson Creek is flat wheat field territory.
They even have those big old grain silos.

Everyone was assuming it was Alberta, Manitoba and the like.

    Anyway good work.

Did you know that I live in BC? I was convinced it must be in SK but started to look at BC towns, partly because the license plate on the approaching vehicle looked like one of ours. It took a while to venture that far north but then a light bulb went off about the "white thing" in the intersection, which I had not been thinking about in my search. I'm not sure if it's a very old memory or just a hunch (as I drove the Alaska Highway once way back in the 1970s) but as soon as I started looking at Dawson Creek I thought, that white thing is probably a mile zero marker, so that made it quite easy to complete the search at that point). I don't know if that marker was there in the 1970s or if I drove right past that spot, most of my memories of the trip are much further north where it was a dirt road with a lot of wildlife roaming around. I imagine it is all paved nowadays, but back then if you caught up to the vehicle in front you would be in their sandstorm so to speak about a half mile away so there was no such thing as passing somebody.

Future note ... do not post anything from BC. ;)

Up around Dawson Creek you are as good as in Alberta so thought it might throw a few people.

I drove Alaska highway 10 years ago from Dawson up to Whitehorse.
It is paved but they are often doing chunks of roadworks in summer.

Never saw moose close to road, but saw bison, wild horses, bears, lots of cariboo who I got to come towards me when I whistled (damm stupid animals), porcupines, mountain sheep licking the salt off the road and a fair few drunk as skunk natives.

Have to say BC is one of my very favourite places in the world.
