A4 Brake problem

Hi All, not sure if this is the right place to post this. I have a 08 A4 for the last few years and it has given me little to no trouble until this week when travelling to work I was taking the first exit off a roundabout and a squealing sound started as I steered left. It got louder and louder but faded once I sped up again. This happened for the next 2 days until the break pad warning light came on, this confused me as I had the break pads and discs changed in the last two months. The noise hasnt happened since the light came on, but now the light comes on every time I get in the car.

I have it booked into the garage for next week, but am wondering if anyone has experienced this or knows what it sounds like?

Maybe the sensor fell out and rubbed up against the disc? Hard to know though, could be many things.

I'm afraid it will be an expensive thing as I am considering trading up in a few months and dont want to spend a fortune on a car that I wont have this time next year

See if you can spot a loose wire around the discs. Wouldn't be the first time a garage has cheaped out on pads with no sensors and cut off the old one and left it hanging.

I really dont know my a4se from my elbow when it comes to mechanical things so I wouldnt even know where to look

Does it have alloys? Look into the wheel and see if there's a wire.

But best get it checked regardless.

Is it possible that the pads on the other axle are gone now?

Was it front or back you had replaced?
