Celebrities 'recreating' moments from careers on talk shows

Anyone else sick of celebrities 'recreating' moments from their careers on talk shows?

The year before last we had Will Smith, his talentless son and Alfonso Ribeiro 'recreate' their dance from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air on Graham Norton.

Recently, Arnold Schwarzenegger 'recreated' several films from his career on James Corden's US talk show (how the f*ck James Corden landed an American talk show where he gets to schmooze with the likes of Schwarzenegger, I'll never know...)

And now last night, Jean-Claude Van Damme 'recreated' a dance he did in the film Kickboxer on Conan O'Brien's show.

Here's an idea. Stop getting celebrities who first emerged 25+ years ago to relive past glories on television.

Either get them to do something new, or get one of the thousands of talented young people aspiring for success and promote them instead.

Or you could stop watching talk shows?

The bad men who forced the OP to watch these talk shows should be very very ashamed.

I've been reminded of how much I dislike Will Smith. Thanks thread.

It's the apparent spontaneity that's the annoying and insulting thing.

Yeah, like it hasn't been rehearsed mercilessly beforehand.

Rumor has it that if you say Carl Froch three times in the mirror, he will appear and tell you about the time he defeated George Groves in front of 80,000 fans at Wembley.

Yeah and as much as I love the Will Smith dancing nostalgia from Fresh Prince, that Jaden fucker needs to be put down

Stuff like that goes viral and acts as great publicity for the show, most of them are doing it these days. That Will Smith clip got 32 million views, great publicity for Graham Norton and Smith.

Didn't one of Conan's writers recently go on a rant about things like this?

Which just confirms my belief that it's cynical sh*te.

You do realise that the celebrities only go on these shows when they're trying to hawk a new book/film/album?

    Chat shows are cynical anyway.

Sure even the interviews on chat shows themselves are basically semi-scripted. No idea why this certain aspect would annoy you

    Promote a new book/film/album then.

Don't coast on something from two decades ago for nostalgic purposes.

No, sure that's what made them the celebrities they are. Obviously people are going to enjoy revisiting the stand out moments in their favourite celebrities' careers, and the celebrities themselves knock a bit of craic out of it too I'm sure.

There is far worse $hite on the television than that.

You only have to say it once

This is nothing. Recreating scenes from old films that everyone knows can actually be funny. Unlike the drivel on the likes of Jimmy Fallon. The games they dream up for celebrities to play on that show.........Jesus. If this is what people have to be spoon fed now to keep them entertained, there isnt hope for humanity.

Having said that, it is Americans of course..............

James Corden's accent annoys me more.

It's the result of the lack of originality in modern movies and tv shows (Game of Thrones, comic book hero movies, remakes of originals, etc.) which causes people to yearn for bygone era media. Of course, one merely climbs out of the mainstream and there will be no need to despair at modern pop film/tv.
