Edit: Are there many places in dublin to sample juice before buying? Only one I know is the heathier smoker place in tallaght.

I'm in Navan, we have a great little iVape store here. there's a couple of the other bland-brand ones too but I never go near them. In iVape you can sample juices away to your heart's content. Often come out of there dizzy, almost nic od'd :D

But I'm usually happy with what I've taken with me.

As for Irish sites, well, there is iVape, then there's ones like Vaporium - who are Waterford based - and I know from ordering there they are quick with delivery and have a solid range of juices.

E-smokeireland in Palmerstown, purple box in temple bar, cigatec in Dun Laoghaire to name but three.

Where in Dublin is convenient for you?

Tallaght, City Centre or Rathmines would be most convenient. Must check out purple box next time i'm in the area.

The Vape Cafe on Capel St. has seats upstairs and the option to grab a nice coffee whilst you're there.

They also have a far better selection of juices than Purplebox who only stock 3 or 4 companies juices like Hangsen and Vaping Gold. Neither of which are great imo.

    Perfect! Thanks for that. :)

Anyone know of any other cafe type places in Dublin?

I would like to try some juices with higher VG ratio (currently using 6mg nicotine in a 80:20 mix) because I find the high PG a bit too harsh on the throat.

I Don't really do reviews, but.

I ordered from Adirondack in the states as they were doing a sale. I was their first Irish customer (hence the review) so they had to add in Ireland as a shipping option for me, which was decent. By the time they'd done that the sale was over.
They emailed me a code for the same discount, which I thought was pretty decent, though.
I bought their two most popular liquids, Placid and Saratoga.

Saratoga is very good, kind of strawberry shortcake thing. Very sweet, but not over the top. The biscuit flavour is very good and lingers nicely. Would definitely buy again.
Placid is a very unusual juice I think. Its lime, pear and honeysuckle, which sounds mank, but works really well. Hard to put your finger on, the lime is very good in it, nicely realistic, but with a sweet floral finish. Not something I'd normally order, but it gets very good reviews and I'm inclined to agree.
It's not an instant hit like the Saratoga, it's more of a grower, but there's enough going on with it to keep me interested.
Bottles are glass w/droppers, 30ml with an extra 6ml small squeezy bottle on the side. Pretty posh bottles they are too. Even childproof, which I hadn't seen in a dropper before.
A sample 6ml bottle thrown in which I haven't tried yet.
All delivered for $41, so not cheap, but delivery was less than a week.
I'd recommend giving them a shot for once in a while, but I wouldn't be making it an ADV based on price. I DIY my main juices now, so I view these as a little treat.
I've tried Highbrow, Drakes Vapes, Spacejam and Bombies before from the states and I'd rate these just below Bombies sort of quality.

I'd second "The Vape Cafe" in Capel Street. Premium selection of juices and the owner is a decent bloke. It's small but friendly......the coffee is great too.

I went into 'the smoke shop' in Cork today. Ended up getting their own brand 'vanilla', which is actually really good. Tastes almost like a vanilla custard but not? Impressed with it. 70/30 PG/VG - probably a bit high on PG, i'd go 60/40.

On a side note, met some lad at the pub the other day who had an incredible peachy DIY, so am going to look into some peach blends.

Yeah, nice chap in there and interesting liquids

If you do happen to find a really good peach juice, let us know. Because it's one of those flavours I've never had a decent one of. Orange being another. More a melon/banana/pineapple man when it comes to juices. Though love them all as actual fruits.

This peach is meant to be really good, though it has custard in it: http://www.abstractvape.eu/shop/eliquids/peach-fields/ I'm waiting for delivery of some of their strawberry myself.

Frozen orange from HOL is the best orange I've had, I went through 50ml of it really fast.

What's a good pineapple flavour? I've had cactus juice which was pretty nice but not huge on flavour, maybe I vaped it all before it was fully steeped.

    Vmist - Classic Coconut - 6mg

This is a really nice vape. Very light and fruity. The coconut isn't too strong, lightly creamy. Makes my mouth water slightly. Good ADV.

Cheers, will have a look at that. My missus loves peach, the nicest she's had to date, was Capote, by Chapter XII - which is actually peach, pineapple with hint of banana and cream - apparently, but all i get from it is peach. It's not bad but I wouldn't vape it all day. If the pineapple was more pronounced I would maybe.

Pineapple is one I find can work for pretty much any make of juice. iVape's pineapple is pretty good for example, for a cheap enough juice. And it's a good one to mix with other flavours, it's pretty strong. More recently I tried mountbakervapor's 'Afternoon delight' - which is pineapple, coconut and banana, but again, the pineapple takes over for me, and it's pretty tasty. Just a hint of coconut after taste, I don't really get the banana on this one either.

Ecirette (Talbot St/Baggot St) have a line called Black Label, and their 'Perfect Peach' is just mouthwatering IMO. Fantastic juice.
    I think its €13 for a 20ml bottle (?).

    MBV Rainbow Roundies (skittles) 6mg

I love actual skittles. This would be more accurately named lemon and lime, that's all I can taste from it. I got it from another poster, it was too sweet for him. I have a sweet tooth so while the sweetness isn't too much for me, it's a bit "Meh. "

Ivape Vanilla Custard 6mg: I was warned that this isn't great and it's not. Not very vanilla-y, not very custardy. An unidentified undertone I may come back and clarify if I can guess it. I'm go g to experiment with it as an accompaniment to other juices to see does it liven up more boring ones.

I got these both in a trade so nothing lost, and I'm better informed about what to next spend my money on, which is good.

Yeah that iVape custard is a strange one, I couldn't put a finger on the flavour either. My partner mixed it with another juice and said it was fine, must find out what juice that was exactly. I had 2 bottles of that stuff, won't be getting another that''s for sure.

Funny that you get mostly lime from the RR, I did get some lemon & lime, but I got mostly a mixed fruit sherbet/fizziness ... I sometimes think my taste buds are shot though :D

That was well steeped too, so that'll be as good as it gets. One to mark off the list at least, if nothing else.

Yeah, I don't mind at all because most of the things I trade for are things that would have caught my eye when I eventually ended up on the sites anyway, I've only acquired about 2 juices I've thought I'd go off and buy again but I file it as "money saved in the long run." It sure beats shelling out your hard earned on mystery juices and then not liking any after being all excited for your package.

I find with the likes of MBV, they have some gems, that really do taste as good if not better than some of the premiums juices ... then they have a LOT of mediocre to poor juices besides. It's trial and error when you're ordering first, because you want to try a bit of everything. And you need to do this to find those gems, that you will re-order. I've ordered maybe 20 different flavours from their range to date, and found 4 that I will definitely go for again. 1/5 ... some say not a great ratio, but if I only ever ordered those 4 from now on, I'd save a bomb and have nice juices to boot.

Beard Vape #05: ["New York style cheesecake with strawberries on top"] - All I can say about this one is, if you like creamy strawberry, in any way, you'll find it very hard to top this juice! It is divine. It's expensive, it is what we'd call a premium juice, and it one of few that I treat myself to every now and then. If it was cheaper it would be my regular ADV. It is that good. I don't really get any biscuit here, a tad at 30w. I mostly get the creamy/cheesecake smoothness on the inhale and that lush strawberry taste as it goes in, and on the exhale. I'm using the Atlantis with 0.5 ohm coil, on the IPVmini2, and tried it in steps between 25w - 40w. And surprisingly, it tastes best to me at 40w. The strawberry is more pronounced here. So Moreish.

For not much more you can get some decent enough juices online. I use Cloudhousevapor at the moment for cheaper juices. The Mt.bakervapor range are cheap, and not too bad at all. The juices do require steeping though. Well, the ones made to order. They have ready made juices on there too, some for €12 or so per 30ml.

I'm lucky enough, there's an iVape store just down the road from me so I'm never stuck for juices. Even their own brand I would say are much better than Hangsen or healthier smoke or wicked. They're about €5 per 10ml. They go steadily up from there, like pink spot juices for €6.99 12ml, and on to more expensive ones. But they stock some great juices. Just depends on what you're willing to pay. I've paid up to €25 for 30ml, but that would be a treat! And would be juices I can try before I buy [another bonus with shops like that]

I used to buy nothing but hangsen, dekang, liqua etc when I started but after trying more expensive stuff I couldn't go back. I believe there's a big difference in quality. Some just don't want to spend the bit extra, and you don't have to ... that's the great thing about choices. Just look about on the Irish vendor's sites even. Most will have the juice out to you within 2 days.

What does "steeping" the juice involve?

Basically just letting the juice mature for flavours to blend/mix properly.
I usually just shake the bottles well daily for a few days and then take the cap off and leave them open for about 12 hours to air a bit and then let sit for another week, seem to do the trick for me.

Need a bit of advice from you JH about what I need for mixing my own liquid.

This link you gave me http://www.vapebase.de/Vape-Bases/VGPG-Vape-Bases/50/50-Vape-Bases/1-Liter-Vape-Base-50-50-VGPG-12mg-ml::24.html
This bottle has everything I need to start mixing & then I just add the concentrated flavours that I need for the recipe.
Here is a recipe that I got from "Vape it with Les"
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5nIAm8aHC4

0.8ML NICOTINE CONCENTRATE 72MG PG BASE
    2.2ML UNFLAVOURED PG
    14ML UNFLAVOURED VG

    0.8ML VANILLA CUSTARD V1* 4%
    0.8ML SIMPLY VANILLA 4%
    0.4ML BUTTER 0.4 ML 2%
    0.4ML HORCHATTA 2%
    0.2ML MARSHMALLOW 1%
    0.2ML PRALINES & CREAM 1%
    0.2ML SMOOTH TOBACCO 1 %

    These flavours are from http://www.leisureliquids.com/concentrates/capella

Les uses separate Nic,PG & VG,that bottle in the link from Germany has all three ingredients in the one bottle,my question is,do I add up those three ingredients together = 17ml.
Do I just syringe 17ml from the German bottle & add the flavourings & it's done.
    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,005 ✭✭✭JH_raheny

Well you can do the 3ml flavour + the 17ml premix but that receipe from Les is mainly PG and the premix is 50/50, also doing it with the premix your Nic. level will slight bit less accurate compared the the Les receipe (tiny bit lower)
but in my opinion it shouldn't matter much and the 50/50 pg/vg will probably carry a bit more flavour from the concentrates and wont need as much time steeping if any at all, I would say just go ahead and try.

Thanks for that,I'll order a litre of that base today,I was very slow in making up my mind about this diy mixing because I didn't know what flavours I would need to make a tasty juice,Red Astaire would not be my cup of tea, mostly Custards & Fruits I use,so having a recipe to follow is handy.

Went into The Vape Cafe on Capel Street & bought RnD's Shortcakez recently. 50/50 mix, €12 for 15 ml bottle.

If you like a vanilla & strawberry combo with a cake taste, this is really nice stuff. Beautiful with coffee. :)

Sorry, only seeing that question now, but like JH says - it's basically letting them breathe, give them a shake, and put them away again, re-capped, in a dark cupboard. Reapeat this every time you think of it basically, open the bottle, give it a squeeze if it's plastic, I put my thumb over the opening give it a good shake about, let it breathe some more, another shake, re-cap and put away. Rinse, repeat numerous times over a week or so. Depending on the juice, 2-3 days is good enough for some, while others may need a few weeks before they really shine. You're usually good to go with pre-packaged stuff, they have probably been on shelves for months. But anything that is made to order, for example - Grant's vanilla custard, or the Mountbakervapor juices, will need to be steeped. Best to buy well in advance of actually needing juices.

What you're doing basically is fusing the ingredients, massaging or blending them together if you like, and encouraging the process with some oxygen. You'll know when they're good to go, because they'll smell and taste much better. If you try them from the off you may find muted or off flavours and likely that the juices will give burnt hits

I just started vaping and looking for a neutral smelling juice - I'm vaping it in the office and don't want to stink the place up with fruit/other vaping smells.

    Any suggestions?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 634 ✭✭✭ceekay74

What juice are you using at the moment?

Only the premium juices smell strongly in my limited experience. The cheap ones don't seem to smell at all.

Maybe try a coffee flavoured one?

Would be a normal enough odour in an office I'd imagine.
