I genuinely wonder if the victims mode of transport and/or age & sex would have made a difference...

From reading numerous threads right here I really think it would.

Meanwhile in the states, a 20yr old girl was handed a 24yr prison sentence for drink driving causing death to 2 other people. You can guarantee she will serve every minute of it too.

If she had done what this lad did, you bet your ass she'd have done life, if not got the death penalty.

Justice system here is an absolute joke, I think id almost just prefer to face murder changes myself if something like that was to happen to a family member here.

Almost worth it sometimes when you think "I'm going to kill that person!"
Good solicitor, plenty of character references, state you come form a good background, have no previous convictions and no memory of the event "just blanked out, I have no idea what happened, oh god, what have I done, I'm so sorry!"
Max 5 years, some suspended, maybe even entire sentence suspended.
As I said, sometimes, almost worth it.

As I said, sometimes, almost worth it.

Eamonn Lillis is an example of it.

Most people probably have heard about the recent conviction of Shane Fitzgerald after knocking down a cyclist whilst drink driving, leaving the scene without calling any help, destroying evidence and flying initially to the UK and then to Aus where he made many friends any enjoyed a good social life while all the time the family were calling for someone to come forward.
He then when extradited continued to fight the case and got a measly 5 years for it all.

Question here is could you stand over a friend in a case like that,I dont think i could,Everyone makes mistakes but i could not be around a person who prolongs the suffering of a decnet family like this.

Can't see the rats facebook page. Is this still accessible? Pity the tabloids didn't run a little story on that, they often do in cases like this.

I'm guessing it's likely some of his scumbag family that helped this cretin skip the country after the murder. Hopefully another one of them ends up in jail, pity they don't arrest the whole lot of them as it clearly took plenty of sick helpers to hide a crime like this.

Not looking to restart a thread here but some of you might be glad to hear that those who assisted Fitzgerald are now being hunted by the Gardai,Some would argue the cover up was the worst part of the whole ordeal.
