Ha the gun against my head every yr is the discussion group PM meeting in early feb, last minute panic to throw figures together, mine is far from perfect ever, but as I said before being within 5% gives me a good enough picture.

Also using taxation accounts often isn't the best approach, esp if your any way creative ha, you want a good reflection of how your business is actually preforming against other farms.

As my old English father in law used to say, every business needs at least three sets of accounts.

And two of them should be written in pencil.

Is it one got the revenue, one for the bank manager and the one in ink for yourself?

Anyone else with dairygold getting the milk results very irregularly? Got nothing for a week or 10 days and then get a blast the same day. Using the mymilk app.
Bf varies from 3.69 to 3.96 in last 3 collections p is up to 3.65 which im surprised with as had to graze heavy covers and the wet weather. Lactose 3.81 and scc 170 but have 2 cows out of tank being treated at the moment

Surely you mean 4.81 for lactose? Isn't 4.2 the base for lactose?

I'm getting results everyday from dairygold last one was for yesterdays collection. They sent 25/4/15 scc today even though they had sent a text for the fat and protein a day after the collection.

Super solids, some one is doing a great job.

    Our fat is 4.02 but P is stubborn at 3.6 U 28 Scc 140

    147 c/cow
    47 gr
    SR 4
Pressure point coming but heat will fix, no panic yet

did a bit of an experiment hete. That collection was off a cover of 1500 grazed last about 15 days
last night's collection now will be off a 1800 cover I had to graze.
If the solids stay up my argument is fcuked

gave cows silage yesterday evening they could eat it in yard and go back out, about 50% of the paddocks are not grazable at the minute, lucky i was coming to the drier part of the farm anyway.Nothing worse than hungry cows in the parlour

Do you start grazing on the drier parts or try and mix and match according to the weather as it comes ?

A group if the early Feb born calves which have been on grass for about a month are now very very watery, the wet weather last week hasn't helped I'd say. I haven't done anything with the calves, no dosing/pour on /vaccinations etc yet with them. Should I just get them dug sampled for now?

No don't have a clue what coccidiosis is. Probably should just get the vet to check them and dung sample.

    Quick question, folks.

I had 3 cows bulling yesterday but, due to a mix up, they weren't done.

Two of my best cows and an average one.

Would giving them a shot of estrumate in a week or so be worth doing to get them bulled in the first 3 weeks or should i just let them run to the second round?

No, they were on heat the evening before.

I'm not a fan of interventions myself but my calving spread has gone to hell in the last few years and I was thinking, with strong and plentiful heats this season, it might be worthwhile to do to maybe get 2 of them in calf in the first 3 weeks and the other maybe 10 days later than waiting for the second heat(assuming a 60% pregnancy rate)?

    At 10 days jab them.
