revit cedar cladding

    I was wondering how people do timber wall cladding in revit ?

    Couple of different ways depending on how detailed you want it to be.

    1. Create a wall type with timber cladding material on the external layer. Give the material a surface pattern of a model hatch and suitable image for render appearance.

    2. An alternative method is to create a beam family that resembles a length of timber. Use the 'Beam System' tool in the structure tab and sketch the outline of the wall face on a vertical reference plane. A very cool tool used mainly by the structural guys but has some great applications for architecture.

    3. Create a curtain wall panel with a timber material. Create a curtain wall type using this as the panel. Set your vertical or horizontal spacing. Use no internal mullions.

    Hope this gives you a few ideas.
