Trade car meaning, high mileage?

Hi

When you see 'trade car' in a donedeal ad, what does it mean?

Also, would 180k km be a lot for a 2.2 hdi PSA engine?

Trade car usually means it's being sold without any warranty, no comeback and the price usually reflects this. Garages will usually only sell "trade cars" to other dealers as there is usually something wrong with the car and it's being sold well below it's retail value. The buying dealer knowns that anything that needs fixing to sell it on comes out of his pocket and not the dealer that sold it to them.

Most garages will not sell a "trade sale" to Joe Public as it would still have to be covered under the "Sale of Goods" act afaik which means it would have to be fit for purpose. Most garages will avoid this hassle with Joe Public and just sell it off to smaller dealers who will fix it themselves at a lower cost and sell it on for a profit.

Yeah, as above mostly. I wouldn't necessarily say there must be something wrong with the car for it to be a trade car but most times it's just too old/high mileage for a dealer to have enough faith in it to retail the thing.

Definitely worth a look if the advert looks decent but obviously make sure you're happy with everything before handing cash over.
