If the Nazis had won WW2...

...what would the last 70 years have been like in Europe and here as well?

I think we would be nastier but more efficient and better workers - more machine than man really - German in other words.

I reckon some of the harsher elements of the nazi regime would have fallen over time in favour of more liberal politics much like the way the power of the catholic church in Ireland has drifted a way over time.

Imagine if Europe under a nazi regime had use of all those German scientists the US and Russia took for their space programs...

Fine Gael with their roots in fascism would be in power, kowtowing to some megalomaniac who controlled the media.

So probably pretty much as we are.

Another outstanding topic here OP. Suggesting that Nazi victory would have been better for the world, outstanding.

    - Nazi's would have continued killing millions of more jews.
    - Other ethnicities would have been killed too. All in the name of the blue eyed blonde master race goal.

Not saying it would have been "better" - far from it but there are pro's and con's in every scenario.

One being Germany need not have waited another 80 years to finally control the continent which they now do all be it under more enlightened governance.

I'm sure the germans we have on here would appreciate being referred to as 'more machine than human'

"More machine than man"...? Good Christ is this pander to the lazy stereotype night or something?

There are a few books that go with the idea - try "Fatherland" for a start - but the thing to consider is: even if the Nazis had won, would they still be in power today?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

The reaction against them would simply be delayed.

This could only work if the Nazis had the A.Bomb which would mean
some kind of stand off with the USA / Russia - hard to tell how the
cold war would have worked with three paranoid androids.

Still I would imagine the Germans would move to solidify the EU,
probably enact a bunch of laws to make the former states more aligned.
They might even bring in a common currency too, might call it the EURO
    or something..

    HOLY **** - !!!

hitler had an Irish cousin, the Irish were cast in a good light in the German propaganda. Celtic races were respected. don't see why we'd have been gassed. Taken over and run as worker ants sure, but we're that now anyway.

(also Ireland was a Vatican asset so we'd have a good chance of surviving so long as el padre played ball)

    Here are the main differences:

    1. Germany would win the World Cup by decree rather than by actual superiority of play.

    2. The internet would be a very dodgy place in ways that are different from reality.

    3. People would still listen to radio and

    4. Israel? Are you kidding me? Greater Syria, quite a thriving place although their relations with Greater Iran not so good now that Adolf Hitler III has passed away and weak, spineless men are running the Empire.

    5. Japan -- same as now only cocky about it.

    6. United States of North America -- still with the isolationism and lovin' it.

1 - I just watched their ice hockey team get trounced 10-0 in the world cup, nothing any regeim coud do about that!

2 - Not as different as you could imagine. Although there would probably be less adds.

    3 - They still do, I think.

4 - Isreal: intesting one this, but depending on how the US felt wuold either result in Isreal ceasing to exist, or WW3. Gaza would probably look the same.

    5 - Agree

    6 - See point 4.

I'm not aware of any hostility to celts in pre war German nationalism although I am not the expert. The Nazis were extreme German nationalists and their enemies of Germany were historically to the east

Not something to be proud of really.

Robert Harris wrote a novel called Fatherland dealing with such a concept.

I think we would be nastier but more efficient and better workers - more machine than man really - German in other words.

    HAHAHA. Efficient.

Unless it's to do with something highly technical like engineering or manufacturing, workers in Germany are generally quite inefficient. Most bureaucratic processes take so bloody long you're more likely to be dead by the time it's processed.

Don't get me started on the service in bars and restaurants over here either: you could easily be waiting half an hour for a drink even though there are only two tables and three wait staff on. From what I've seen of the way people work in the service industry here, they'd be fired almost instantly in most English-speaking countries.

There's also a thing about certificates here. You need to have X qualifications for a certain job in order to be hired. It doesn't matter if you're utterly useless at it: because you have a piece of paper (one stamped by the IHK, other certificates will not do!) then it means you can do the job, even if evidence points to the contrary.

This nonsense about Germany being efficient needs to stop. They have strengths and weaknesses like all countries. In many respects (such as dealing with civil servants and dodgy businesses) living here can be almost as frustrating as being in Ireland or the UK.

Not a cousin but a relation by marriage. Bridget Hitler (nee Dowling) married Alois, Adolf's half brother. She would have been Minister for Finance in the Irish Reich.

What line of business do you operate as an ant in yourself?

They had quiet a few skirmishes with France over the years beforehand and also North as well as West and South. Being Celtic would have made no difference whatsover.

Not that much different to the Russia of the early 90s. At least according to writers like Harry Turtledove, in his book "In the presence of Mine enemies". Just as the Soviet gulags and their millions of victims are on the most part ignored and the today's progressives spout their Marxism inspired doctrine, in the counter-factual Europe most people would be leading lives as normal, only dimly aware they were living in a toxic society.
