Morons behave like Morons . Hardly surprising !

Indeed Irish morons are behaving more and more like English morons.

Irish morons are often under the illusion that everybody loves them. Which is unsurprisingly moronic !

There are plenty of people in this world that do not like morons (particularly drunk morons)

There are also plenty of people that do not like drunk Irish morons ! Wake up and Drink the coffee and Sober up at least some of the time !

Story goes (that I heard ) is they bought them in a shop not far from the bar, which I find hard to believe that a shop would be selling masks like that.

Still though, the bar man, if he had an issue early on should have turfed them out but lots of bars will deal with and allow big groups do pretty much anything as long as theyre lining the pockets of the bar and not fighting or breaking the bar apart.

I don't believe for a second what I've heard. Cork people always behave impeccably, and their personal hygiene is above reproach. They are constant beacons of moral fortitude, prudence, temperence and justice and are an example to us all in how to lead just, rich, fulfilling lives of goodness and virtue. To hear them slandered like this is truly disgusting.

Being from Cork, I am aware of the hatred and disdain some people have towards Cork people.

    We're not all bad.

Then I read something like this and think, you're absolutely right.

I look at moron's like that, point at them and say you are the reason why people hate Cork people.

Nah, relax there, this has nothing to do with them being from Cork... good and bad everywhere and all that.

Should have been arrested and locked up.

No doubt someone will correct me, but in certain countries (Germany? Austria?) I think doing something like this is an offence.

I wonder is that the Irish bar that has female staff wearing skin tight hot pants with a print of a hand on each arse cheek? I remember at the time thinking that's just asking for trouble, especially in an Irish bar with cheap drink.

Prague was the one city where I saw the results of some Irish lads getting the crap kicked out of them. They all had heads like balloons. The Cork lads obviously stuck to the tourist area, which is pretty quiet and patrolled by police constantly. If they went outside of that area with that crap they'd be in hospital beds. It wouldn't surprise me if they took it all off once they got outside the protection of an Irish pub.

The Father of the Bride has claimed they don't really know all that much about WW2

    http://www.thejournal.ie/nazi-stag-party-hitler-jewish-quarter-examiner-2079075-May2015/?utm_source=facebook_short
He said that the party was made up of members of a football team and that the group most likely “didn’t have a clue what was going on during World War Two.”

    Wat.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

That's.... more embarrasing than wearing the nazi mask....

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Absolute tosh! Sure the dogs in the street know that Hitler had millions of Jews killed, and common sense would therefore dictate that to wear a mask of him in the Jewish quarter would be in bad taste if nothing else. And didn't the landlord say that they'd been repeatedly told to take them off and refused?

Did...did you just compare the Nazis to the Cairo Gang? What?

Enlighten me so you tit, as to what the Cairo Gang actually did (with sources)?

They were the catalyst for bloody Sunday and representative of the oppressive regime which subjugated the Irish people over a 600 year period, they can dress as tans, Cromwell, John Gifford, Charles Trevelyan or any other representative of the genocidal regime either.

The comparison went no further than highlighting the fact that both may cause 'offence' but not to rational adults who should leave the past in the past.

Even video games are banned from having Nazi imagery. The most recent Wolfenstein had a special version just for Germany and Austria. The Nazis were replaced with "The Regime".

The Cairo gang were wiped out on Bloody Sunday. I'd say very few people today would have a clue what they looked like.

The Nazi's occupied Czech and murdered tens of thousands of people there.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is your analogy is sh1te.

Victim blaming! How dare you - read the Jessica Valenti guardian column for 24 hours.

I wonder has a stag do ever featured lads dressed up as Stags?

The Nazi's(sic) occupied Czech(sic) and murdered tens of thousands of people there.
The English occupied Ireland and murdered tens of thousands of people here.

The Hitler masks represent the nazi regime.
The Cairo/Trevelyan/tans masks represent the English regime.

Hope that clarifies the comparison, to be clear it's the broad similarity of the situation and the difference in reaction that both would garner I'm highlighting, nothing more.

The situations aren't 'broadly similar' at all, unless you know very little about history. As a matter of fact they are entirely different.

....and tell me where does one buy a 'Cairo/Trevelyan/tans' mask?

P.S. By the way the name of the country is Czech, please accept my deepest apoligies for the superfluous apostrophe

I'd bet that there are parts of this country where if a bunch of English lads showed up dressed as black and tans they'd get a hiding. I'm not saying it's right, I'm just saying that a lot of places have long memories, especially for atrocities.

Hells, there are still parts of this country where turning up with the wrong accent can get you a hiding.

6 millions versus tens of thousands. not really much of a comparison

Nice bit of victim blaming there.

    I accept your apoligies(sic)

They're not entirely different at all especially in the case of Trevelyan, the only substantive difference is the length of time that's passed.

It wasn't a bunch of German lads that showed up though, so it's more like a bunch of Greek lads or some other unrelated nationality showing up here, and giving someone a hiding for wearing a mask that represents someone who hurt your ancestors is just as ridiculous as trying to pretend that it's caused you any real offence.

What? Your argument is that genocide only becomes offensive after a given number.

What does recognition have to do with it? Wearing the masks is either a condemnable act ab initio or not at all.
