Most people store items for sentimental value, the belongings of a dead loved one they cant bear to throw out. Some would have stuff they need in storage until they can buy their own house.

Fair points, I would hazzard a safe guess and say 73% of storage units are filled with useless stuff people dont want. The stuff most people have in units is an addition to the stuff they have in their attics. Useless stuff like old teddy bears, old dolls, old clothes, old electronics, old beds etc.

People have too much stuff in their lives, spare bedroom, garages, attics and presses full of stuff they dont ever need or use and then they rent out storage units for space for more stuff they dont ever need or use.
People need to stop hoarding stuff.

It's not so much that, it's more a case of developers building houses on three stories so they can reduce the footprint and therefore lofts, garages and gardens with enough space for a decent sized shed are a thing of the past.

Not this place, but I have stuff for my brother in a similar operation. Concrete floors, concrete walls, metal doors - can't see what would burn that much, apart from stuff in individual lockers of course.

Why can't fire be stored in the one place? Then we'd all be safe.

This hurts more than the fire. I'm sure that a person who has their valuables in Store It would of been feeling pretty **** right now, but to add insult to injury, PDA saunters along and declares he doth not care a jot for such hardship and misery as it is only Dubliners who shall suffer.

You're a modern Nero for our times you know.

If this had happened ANYWHERE else in the entire country I would offer my full sympathy.

I just loath Dubs too much to bring myself to even pretend caring.

Jolly good old chap but what of the blow ins to Dublin that may have been affected, shall they illicit your tears or is their betrayal to the ruralists cast them as unworthy?

Not sure if serious .....cos I mean the difference between a Dub and a lad from Bray is just MASSIVE ...

Lots of smoke .''where there is smoke there is fire ''

Don't think the pics are doing the fire justice - I drove past this morning and there were sheets of flames raging out of the building, a proper inferno. Can't see too much inside having survived..bummer if you had sentimental/valuable things stored there..

Is it because we have jobs and don't shift our cousins?

Between house moves ,and moving abroad i had my things stored with that other Company ,U-STORE.As far as i recall the walls of each storage unit did not go right to the ceiling .There was just wire mesh on top so fire could travel from one unit to the next .That was my memory of U-Store in Waterford ,but i could be wrong .
