Light switch problem

    Hi all

The light switch on the landing failed recently, one of the two rocker switches just stopped "rocking" and wouldn't click anymore so I decided to replace it.

I took it off the wall and replaced it with a new switch, tested it before screwing it back into the wall and everything seemed to be working.

I noticed that one of the bulbs in the landing light was so I replaced it.

When I then went to switch on my brand new light switch, a spark came from the switch and the circuit board tripped.

But the funny thing is, the very same thing has happened to the new rocker switch. It's now broken and won't click or switch or do anything.

Does anyone know if there's a connection here? (pardon the pun)

    Just seems very coincidental.

    Thanks

Get an electrician to fix it.

Glad you found the problem ..... possibly, from brief description, a wire at the back of the light switch was touching earth when the switch was fitted.

But no way could anyone be sure without looking and no one was prepared to advise about it because of the danger to life.

    ;)

A light switch is electrical not electronic but it's good that you fixed it.
