Most of the hard work is already done - you'll have a great race.

    Looking forward to the report.

Since you decided to race Rotterdam instead, it appears I have a new rival.

    My namesake :D

If he's anything like aero2k, it will be me that needs the handicap :)

Btw no mention of tracking in the race magazine. I'll update as soon as I can post-race though ;)

    Friday 24th April - 35 minutes Easy (with 4 x 100m Strides)
    4.5m @ 7:47p/m average

Final few miles before the big day. Unlike MKDTH, my Garmin doesn't have any racist tendencies so I had no problem locating satellites despite being in Germany :D. I don't have a bpm average as I didn't bring the HRM, but the effort was easy. Threw the strides into the last half mile. Now off to indulge in the fun part of the taper - Carbo-loading :)

    Splits:

    Mile 1 - 7:58
    Mile 2 - 7:44
    Mile 3 - 7:49
    Mile 4 - 7:56
    0.5 - 3:33

    Thanks Pat.
Hope you're training hard for that beer mile. That's my next big target.

Each to their own, I just don't think I would enjoy a race where most people, both on speaker, other runners and fans will mainly be speaking in another language. Good luck to all of the English speakers though ;)

I was actually talking about your Garmin, as you said it wouldn't work at the MK parkrun a while back because it was in a different country.

Looks like you've outed yourself tho....:D

Just catching up on your log P. Looks like you've some solid training done. Enjoy tomorrow.

Have you chosen your racing silks yet? Will the tricolour top be making an appearance to impress Mrs Merkel?

    Cheers Ferris.
Going to go with the Berlin attire. I picked up a nice fluorescent t-shirt at the Expo but I know better than to give that it's first outing in a marathon :P.

Glad to see you're back at it btw. Any chance you'll be joining us in Boston?

Would love to but the Doc has me off marathon distances till autumn 2016.

I'm enjoying being back out there though doing some shorter stuff.

It took a min or so to kick in but worked, sigh.

Probably spent too much time on my feet today, but I think I'd rather that than staring at the four walls with boredom. Took in the Hamburg game before completing my final session of carbo-loading afterwards (Bratwurst & Weissbeer tomorrow!).

    A few observations:

    - It's no surprise Hamburg are bottom of the Bundesliga. They are awful. No idea how they managed to win that game (FT: 3-2).

    - Rafael Van Der Vaart has no right foot and has rapidly declined since leaving Spurs. Or maybe he's stayed at the same level, but the EPL is so bad that he stood out there for the right reasons. Now he's being found out in a better league? He was substituted before the end.

    - Olic (the Croatian WC striker) either can't run (injured), won't run (lazy) or struggles to run because of his frame/fitness/weight etc.
Regardless, he's lucky he's not entered in the race tomorrow as it's unlikely he'd make the cut off time.

Back in the hotel with my feet up now. I should sleep well, but if I don't it won't really matter as I had an absolute monster slumber last night. Signing off until tomorrow. Will be back as soon as I can get online with an update post-race.

Good luck to all my fellow competitors and of course those in London too.

Always good to get a PB so hope youre happy with it. As long as you get the most out of yourself on a given day you can't really do anymore.

Enjoy a few well earned steins of your favorite beverage!
