I don't know the price difference between bus eireann and aircoach but the x1 route has some fancy 151 coaches on it now with extra comfy seats and toilet, 4g wifi etc.

Or the x2 from translink is direct and nice coaches too.

I say this because there could be a possibility of driving these soon .....

I had to use the so called be express from the airport once.

Express my arse stopped in Newry and banbridge and more expensive and the WiFi was ****e

    Give me aircoach any day

And don't even start me on translink

We don't have a bus service in kilkenny so no need to worry about that ever being an option for me :)

This insurance mentalism almost makes me glad to be an oul' fella. AXA wanted €536 this year, up from €510 last year, full-comp. I have a young Fobbling Wedgeling on the policy this weather, which is shunting it up a bit. I phoned them and explained that I have deep fundamental religious issues with paying more than €500 for the sodding thing at this hour of my life, and ended up getting it for €495 with breakdown assistance (normally €30) thrun in. I shall spend the €41 thus saved on beer in due course. In your face, Universe. In. Your. Fcukan. Face!! :D

Its laughable to see a bus eireann expressway ad with a nice sleek lovely luxury coach.

Go to use the service - and its a crappy 04 or 2008 Scania that rolls up.

Have they started using the new Scanias some of their more recent ads show - are they any better....

2006 Vanhool on a Daf chassis - operated by a private operator on Irish rail bus transfers (between Mallow and Tralee when they were doing work on the railway line) was the comfiest coach ive ever been in.

I never got the whole vintage insurance thing. Does having it mean you can only do small mileage a year and not use the car everyday ?

I'm on the bus to Sligo right now to get into another bus that will take me to Westport. It feels like I'm getting some disease already. On the bright side, I'll have my car back in 2 hours or so.

You's need to move out to the sticks, just over 500 for me at 25( 24 when I took the policy out) in a 1.8T. Love the shocked that's a turbo model line from them lol! You'd swear I wanted to insure a 747.

An aunt and uncle of mine asked me to have a look at a car for them this evening. It's a base spec 03 320d with 180k miles for €3500. Really nothing special at all. Found a M Sport auto, diesel, same mileage, same year, obviously looks much nicer...and they won't even have a look at it because it's up for €300 more than the first car.

    Unbelievable.

Is size and type of fuel an issue????

Surely youd be into a decent example for smaller money if you went petrol???

They will already be paying 2 litre tax on a 320d - wonder if a 320i - or even a 318i could be picked up cheaper.

They aren't the best in base spec tbh - seen a 318i going through an NCT - same vintage - looked very plain inside.

Leather makes a massive difference in the E46 - especially if light coloured.

Could always try making an offer on the M sport that matches the base model - its just 300 euro - so I guess the worst that will happen is the seller will say no.

Only issue I guess with M sport is I imagine you will have bigger wheels - and sports suspension as well - which they may or may not like ride comfort wise.

Some people have to buy the cheapest of any car on the Internet and think anyone selling other ones for slightly more are trying to rip them off!

is an NCT "fail dangerous" tester discretionary?

the trusty yaris failed last night... got a bit of a fright tbh, "fail dangerous". wasn't a bad test other than that, for a car that doesn't get even the slightest bit of love.

advanced corrosion on a brake pipe apparently. had a quick glance under it today as it's pissing down outside (edit: the weather is pissing down, not the brake fluid :pac:) and to be fair, where the copper line meets the flexi pipe is a bit greasy looking.

the reservoir is full and has never been topped up as long as we've owned the car. hands up, clearly there is a fault and the NCT copped that which is good. i just question was fail dangerous a bit hasty?

please don't high horse me, genuine question. i only ask for example as my corolla failed before because a caliper was seized open and i could drive home, if i had 4 bald tyres i could drive home etc etc, but one damp looking brake hose connection and we are on a tow truck.

Yes, it cannot be implicitly detailed what constitutes a fail dangerous item, degrees of corrosion etc are quantified by the tester, it is up to them to decide is the fail a fail dangerous or not.

    well i'm minorly aggrieved! :pac:

****ing car... failed on the rear brake lines, fairly bad emissions fail, 2 tyres, broken headlight mounts and a few other minor bits. it was mams car but was handed down to my sister this year to learn in and she's been very hard on it, i know the brakes and emissions aren't her fault but the tyres and headlights etc are.

it's a bit sad because we've had it 4 or 5 years and passed 3 tests with us first time while in my mothers careful ownership, really reliable little car, but these kind of amount to what the car is worth.
