As far as pan-continental conflict goes, the numero uno candidate is China.

Actually, there's a long simmering tension between India and China along the border over the border itself but also feelings within the Indian military that China or Chinese interests are funding or directly arming Maoist insurgents in the north of India.

True, I wasn't even thinking of India.

China is picking squabbles with literally everyone.

Now she has a competent navy, China is leaning on all of its neighbours over territorial waters, often with outlandish claims.

Whether its Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam or Malaysia, China is making aggro with them all.

Really? The spread of colours of the people drowning in the Med makes one wonder how bad things have to get before the conflict across North Africa, through the Arabian Peninsula, the Persian Gulf and all the way to India would be called a multi-continent conflict.

Between who?

Libya has its new civil war & in the chaos is the nexus for smuggling of subsaharan migrants.

But the Libyan conflict is mostly tribal.
There is no indication at all it will spread.

The US will find a reason to get involved in some conflict that has nothing to do with them. They always do.

I imagine it will involve Russia or North Korea, they're the most aggro ones these days.

America is probably more at risk of an internal conflict than causing WW3 at the minute.

The middle east is the most volatile and could easily spill over. If Iran and Saudi Arabia get involved then that could escalate very quickly.

China does a lot of posturing and the government chances it's arm but money talks there, and a war would be bad for business. Unlike America which profits from war.

Don't either will give the US the opportunity. I have lived in Asia. North Korea may at times appear crazy and reckless to us but it is actually thought out and planned inorder to get the most concessions and bully the south.
