Tbvh recorded them to post here to allow the respected forum elders like yourself ;) to see and tell me if I was running them too fast or not.

You shouldn't be concerned about pace on strides though. Nice relaxed effort don't sprint them or run them flat out, it's not a session, concentrate on good form etc.
I am sure Ecoli will fill you in on the etiquette when you report to him :p

    What's the campaign - garmin-less running ?

It's a friendly campaign kit ;) I run by feel, probably to the other extreme, only getting the stopwatch out for a solo interval session or a run by time. I have a very sneaky suspicion that if I got one of *those* devices, I would become a slave to the seductive stats...

Just for general interest, hope you don't mind the hijack PM but it's not everyday Sonia O'Sullivan drops into your log ;)
Check out the 21st and 22nd of the month (from1998)...how cool and understated is that?!
And not a pace in sight (except for the hand-timed intervals ;) )

    Tuesday

    1E, 5MP, 1E

    12:50, 8:32, 8:37, 8:34, 8:30, 8:32, 9:30

Took my 9 year old daughter and the dog along for the warmup mile hence it being a bit slow. But still not too bad for a 9 year old and puppy :)

Marathon pace 8:34 target has been set from current McMillan calculations on best recent race performance. This gives a marathon target of 3:45. I'm not setting this in stone at all this far out especially given McMillans tendency to underestimate endurance. I had it in my head I'd aim for sub 4 this year but things are progressing better than expected. Plenty of time to evaluate that later in the year ! For the moment the plan calls for some MP miles and that's where the pace has come from.

Reckon I'd be the same myself - got rid of the weighing scales years ago because I was obsessing & hopping up on it twice a day so reckon I'd go nuts altogether with a garmin !

**** - was mad for doing this as it's a flat 5k near my family home. Feckin beer mile clashes with it.

    Thursday

    X miles at Y pace.

No watch, no tracking, approx 4 miles at easy pace around 9:30 / 10:00 but not sure of either figure :pac:

    Friday
Skipped Fridays scheduled 6 miles and strides. My heels are starting to really hurt these days as is the base of both feet so I'm taking a bit of a step back on the mileage and concentrating a bit more on stretches and foam rolling the calves to try and loosen things up.

    Saturday

    1 mile walking warmup
7 miles at MP avg 8:39
    1.2 mile cooldown @ 9:41

No trouble at all to hold the pace on this. Next weeks Saturday run reverts to the traditional longer run at easy pace.

Has your stride changed since the Chinese sounding one you learnt last year? I thought that cleared the heel problem?

When's the last time you changed shoes?

Changed shoes back in January originally. Properly done at the run hub. The niggles have been building steadily though over last two months. Picked up a bargain pair of Brooks Ghosts in TK Max (had originally ran in these all be it a newer model up until the last shoe change) as I was second guessing the shoes themselves. Bit of an improvement but I think it comes down to my old nemesis the tight calve muscles.

Not intentionally. I know my heel strike is gone for sure. But I don't feel that my feet are contacting properly. Seems to be landing more on the outside of the foot than before. The ghosts have a higher arch and I do feel I'm landing that bit more evenly in them.

that's one of my issues too, a physio told me to be aware of landing my big toe on the ground without changing things too much

    Monday

4 Miles Easy @ 9:30 pace. The pure definition of easy despite it being windy. Arrived home not looking like I'd ran at all and with hardly a drop of sweat present.

    Tuesday

    Hills :) 4.2 miles total

Plan was 1 mile easy, 6 x 1 min hills with jog back recovery of 2 to 3 min., 1 mile easy cooldown.

    2 easy miles 9:39, 9:30

6 x 1 min hill reps were ran approx 6:30 pace. Except the last one which was closer to 6:00 (explaining why it was such an effort at the time) Elevation gain of 35ft on these. It's a decent hill but maybe I could do with it being a bit steeper. Also I ran the first part of each rep a little faster and was tiring by the end. Reckon I'd be better served running slightly slower across the entire rep and even it out.

Edit: ECOLII had a gander at the strava log for the session and was happy with the hill and the pacing. If he's happy then I am :)

All a learning curve for me but am enjoying it.

Change of plan for the goal 5k at the end of June.

Came across this race mentioned in the Samsung Night Run race thread. It's on the same week just a few days earlier. Flat course in city centre, organised by Crusaders AC. Chance of a few beers after if anyone else is doing it ;) Also means that Mrs Mule can run the 5k in Castleknock that weekend and we don't need to worry about babysitting.
