Yeah, the ballad was a bit unnecessary. He was very nervous but I think that's to be expected.

I didn't see the entire show, only the stuff they put up on You Tube, but the Golden Ticket bit was brilliant. I didn't expect to see Shia LaBeouf!

Fair play to him. I quite enjoyed it and I liked the song at the end - cheesy, but it was actually kinda nice.

He had said in interviews that he was bricking it and that it'd probably take him awhile to settle in to the job, so hopefully it'll all work out for him.

I think he did well, he was obviously nervous, but once he settles into it I think he could be a success. He needs to get Reggie Watts integrated into the show a bit more though I think, wasted comedic talent otherwise

I really don't get why they have to do it at all. Even worse is when they started doing it in Ireland too.

Haven't watched it all.. but it's largely working quite well in a strange kind of way.

PS - see 6 minutes in for the most comfortable James has been doing a monologue yet... probably due to the sheet awkwardness of it all, but himself and Reggie look like they're genuinely having fun with it.

I've only seen the 1st ep, them 6m wer to thank a lot of people & his parents, who were in the front row, there's a full ep on youtube.

Haven't watched most of Corden's stuff, definitely changed since the time he won an award afaik The Brits & was cheekily expecting more that night, but certainly done a lot since to get attention from CBS staff to take over from Craig Ferguson, big shoes to fill as you never knew what to get with Craig & who else can do an awkward pause like him:D

But if you're missing Craig, & if you have time this w/end

Funny that james didn't ask then. Of course anybody can call themselves a film maker and have something on you tube but this guy was living in -- and probably owned -- a big house.

Never liked Corden, and while the skits are well written and funny, don't think I'll ever take to him as a host to be honest. I genuinely don't find his type of comedy shtick funny. I'm sure he'll do well being the Brit as a different choice than the other hosts on TV there, but Ferguson will be really missed.

I wasn't a fan of Corden either and I do miss Craig. James is no Craig and what I like is that he is most definitely not trying to be Craig! There's a more Jimmy Fallon like feel to this show.

Wasn't there a bigger objection to Fallon taking over as i heard all the objectors came on his 1st nite with $1 afaik Bono was there?

I only tune into Fallon if someone interesting is on as its on the CNBC ch nightly.
I see Conan's show got moved to 1am from 11pm on Trutv, David o Doherty was on it last nite, but too late for me.

I remember Letterman used to be on Sky1@midnite one time, i don't know what year, but i remember he did his show in London for 1 week & on the last night had Harry Ramsden's chipshop & fed the whole audience that night!

Are they not talk shows anymore? They all seem to be presenters doing dull sketches and playing boring games. Fallon especially is guilty of the last one.
