I have never ever seen e46 wishbones sold without the two bushes. Unless you mean the front control arm bush, which is often sold separately. When I replaced mine a couple of months ago, there was plenty of play in the 2 bushes on the control arm, so it's definitely worth replacing the whole lot.

You do realise that wishbone / control arm is the same part, right? So what you've just said makes no sense

I already have upgraded meyle HD wishbones in it anyway.

Saw an r32 down in crosshaven today and not a sign of tax on it. Had an old nct disc where tax should be so trying to make it look like has disc I guess. Annoys me if you can't afford the tax don't buy the car! Mind you not sure was it even an r32 or just kit which makes it worse inside looked like a gti but maybe they the same...

I'm well aware they are the same thing. Part in red is commonly called a front control arm bush (FCAB). There are 2 other bushes on the control arm, where the screws are coming up from. These can also get worn and aren't sold separate from the entire control arm/wishbone (made sure to mention both before you accuse me of not knowing they're the same).

I know the E46 suspension inside out. Those are ball joints, not bushes. There is only one bush on the wishbone (FCAB). Now stop talking out yer arse because you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

The reason I opted for the Meyle HD wishbones is that those balljoints are replaceable items, and do not require the replacement of the entire wishbone.

There's a 1.9 TDI replica R32 nearby that I take great fun in putting in it's place. The bizarre thing is, for all the money they put into making a TDI look like a R32, lowering it, getting the whole exhaust system done and a new set of wheels, they could have bought an R32 and taxed and run for ages.

I took great joy from asking a chap in the carpark in work if they ever made a diesel rs4. Look on his face was priceless:pac:

Not talking out my arse, but apologies, I got mixed up.

I used Meyle control arms that had the ball joints built in along with the HD fcabs. All I was trying to say is I never saw the ball joints and control arms separate when I was looking.

I was only messing anyway

Ball joints are irrelevant anyway cos its apparently worn bushes... but FYI the ball joints aren't sold separately cos they can't be replaced on the OEM control arms due to the way they're made. Only the meyle HD ones have replaceable ball joints.
