2000 was the best year of Attitude Era, so I have wait a little bit longer. :(

Gonna start watching the summer months and the highway to hell build up to summerslam 98 with Austin and Taker. Brings back memories watching it as a (14 yr old) youngin'

Completely forgot that (new) DX were initially the heels after Wrestlemania 14, weird stuff.

How are people finding the network running on the PS3? It's a bit choppy for me, buffering a fair bit especially when I skip forward or backwards

Just watched Tatsumi Fujinami's induction into the Hall Of Fame. Time for Raw Pre-Show now.

I reckon they'll be taken down after a month a la "Black History" and "12Days of Attitude"

Myself and another Boardsie - SuperRush, have decided to "Recreate" 1998.

We are gonna watch Raw from the Attitude era, up to Summerslam 1998. Possibly one / two Raws per week, in order, and the PPVs thrown in the correct order as well.

Ideally, this would all be done by the time the current year Summerslam is on. So then, on the Saturday, we would watch 1998 Summerslam (Highway to Hell), with copious amounts of BBQ meat and beer, then watch the 2015 Summerslam live, again with the beers etc

Yep. Several times on Raw they aired a mini-movie made up of the angles and matches that built to Summerslam and it was set to Highway to Hell. The mini-movie also aired before the PPV started and the song was used for the wrap up video but it's been edited off all releases since the VHS release.

On the go-home Raw they played the song in the arena while a line of fire ranup the ramp but the Network version plats Taker's music

And that is how you build anticipation to a ppv main event!!

I like that they havent put all of the stone cold tough enough episodes up at once and Austin can still at least take bumps or could.

I been watching the old tough enough. Season 1/2 are up and then it season 5 with stone cold. Was there a season 3? I know there was a though season on smackdown and I guess that season 4?

Yes there was s Season 3. That was the one with John Morrison.

Not sure if that one will be shown due to a contestant having serious psychological issues during the filming. Wikipedia it for the full story

Watched Dec97/Jan98 Raws and the Rumble. It's great to watch how things were changing. Austin/Rock on the verge of greatness while at the same time The Godwins, DOA, Headbangers, Jackel, Mero and Brandy were stinking the shows up

Prepared to be a little jealous and possibly hate me? I'm watching Wrestlemania 19 for the first time ever, don't remember the results bar the final match and haven't seen any matches so basically a fresh ppv, it must have slipped in during my brief time not watching wrestling.

Exact same thing happened me - that landed righty around the time I dropped off!

The Attitude Era has so much crap aswell. Los Boriquas vs DOA etc. Impossible to watch.

I think there's a serious amount of crap alright. I used to love that feud when I was young, but then again, I loved every single thing the WWE did back then.

I reckon the Attitude era, while great, still isn't as great as recalled through rose tinted glasses.

It's never going to be as good the second time around.
I've been watching some ppvs from '98 and while the undercards aren't great, there's been some amazing matches. Undertaker vs Mankind (King of the Ring), & Mankind vs Shamrock vs The Rock in a cage (Breakdown) are the first two that come to mind. But in general I think the in ring ability and athleticism of wrestlers today are a lot better than those in the attitude era. It was all about the storylines which just aren't as good today

Watching Wrestlemania 25 now for that classic match, Santina Marella winning Miss Wrestlemania.

I was watching Survivor Series 1987 last night. Randy Savage and Jake Roberts on one team!

The Wrestlemania 25 video includes the Kid Rock performance. Why could they not have cut that atrocious waste of time from it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,166 ✭✭✭Stereomaniac

I guess whatever deal they signed with him obviously included broadcasting after the event.

if they cut all the atrocious waste of times from wrestlemania 25 they would have only had one match!

Ah I liked the legends vs. Jericho, it was fun to see Steamboat going. The Diva thing was terrible though, the commentary hadn't a clue of who was in the match, and most of the time they only realised there was a former Diva there when they were gone (like Sunny, Torrie Wilson, and Jackie Gayda).

Pretty cool watching Tough Enough again and to see what some of them became after the show. I never knew Kenny King and Shad were Tough Enough contestants.

I never watched WCW back in the day. I've been watching back over some of the most famous moments all of which are really bad: The Giant vs Hogan Monster Truck thing, Hogan vs Sting at Starrcade (oh my god that was bad, the commentators reaction is really funny; they didn't know what to say), Hogan vs Jarrett liedown with Russo's promo soon after (the commentators constantly emphasising that this is real life is so embarrassing and funny at the same time; they really think this is a great angle) and of course, Goldberg not following the script. It's really funny because they were trying to present Goldberg not taking the Jackknife and Russo being angry with him as a shoot. Then one of the commentators said: "You know, I think Goldberg was supposed to go up for the Jackknife powerbomb, and he refused". So unbelievably bad. And really gave away that it's a work as there is no way the commentators would say that if it was real.

It's actually hilarious to watch at times (and especially the terrible commentary). It comes across like a spoof making fun of professional wrestling.

Was there anything good about WCW? :D (apart from the first few months of the NWO)?
