Going to Ikea on Sunday...am I mad?

I must be extremely bored, but I need a few things from Ikea and am in a flat pack building mood! Is Ikea is still packed on Sundays? I know what I need so should be able to grab my stuff. I'm just not in the mood for queueing!

I can think of few more hellish ways to spend a Sunday than walking round Ikea looking at kitchen accessories. With those repulsive meatballs they serve in the 'restaurant' afterwards no doubt.

My tip (I go regularly)... Make a precise list of what you need, go online, get the names and the areas where they are, bring the credit card instead of cash so you go into the express lane (quicker than a cashier!)... Don't go into the showroom, when you get to the top of the stairs, turn left towards the restaurant, the stairs to the warehouse is beside the lifts on the right... It will save time and your sanity!!!!!

I just don't get Ikea. The place looks like an enormous blue prison. There are no windows. Once you get inside the front door its a one way system requiring you to walk the 36 miles to reach the exit. The furniture is all minimalist 70s looking guff in primary colours. Admittedly Im from the country and it took me a while to wrap my head around the little bookie slips and pencils in Argos back in the day, but how do you know which items you can pickup in the shop on your journey through purgatory and which you must look for the the gigantic warehouse of lost souls?
Never happier to leave a place in my life.

If you see this while still there and you're a coffee drinker with a bean grinder, try their coffee beans. They're really good for the price, around 2.50 I think.

I hate when people rave about the Ikea meatballs. I've only been to Ikea twice, once in Dubai and once in Dublin, and don't see what the attraction is. Loads of people looking at housey stuff. The sister I was with both times, was in her element. As we got to the end, she wanted to go back for one last thing.

"I'll wait outside" sez I.

She arrived back 40 minutes later...

In fairness I haven't seen too many couples fight - but oh boy I've heard kids and babies giving it welly screaming :eek:

Often thought that child social workers should set up patrols there - they'd do a roaring trade.

Both floors, in and out in eight minutes is my record. My buddy managed seven. Going alone and first thing is key.

There's an Ikea app for that. Add items to shopping list, see where they are in the warehouse (it gives you shelf code for each item) on your phone, grab them and you're done in 10 minutes!

Had a look in there when I was pricing a new bed and bedside lockers.

Their stuff is very cheap and a headboard on one of their display beds wobbled easily when shook.
I'm all for value but I get the impression allot of their stuff wouldn't last very long...

In fairness my arse is on one of their officey-type chairs as I type and it seems to be holding its own for a while now...

Going to Ikea at the weekend would almost convince you that every woman in her thirties is pregnant and they have all decided to got to IKea with their partner at the weekends.
